    2025-26 General Trades & Signings

At his best, he’s been a 60ish point guy, which is fair for his contract. If he can get back near that, it’s a good deal for Philly. If he’s settled in as a 40-50 point guy, it’s just an okay deal. Wouldn’t actually represent a huge upgrade on Poehling if that’s how it plays out (when you factor...

While Zegras has become overrated, that's still quite the light return. Also, was really hoping Anaheim would take Kampf off the Leafs' hands, but that's probably off the table now.

    Ranking Prospects 2025-26

In the KHL maybe. Not so much in the other European leagues - at least, not significantly more. Lots of those league pay similarly to AHL/two-way deals for guys that have no real chance at NHL time. But, being closer to home is a huge upgrade at similar pay. Not to mention shorter distances to...

Because they don't feel they have a path to the NHL, and, in that case, they'd rather play closer to home.

Not that are ready for full time NHL duty yet. Those aren’t the types that are typically at development camp.

Those aren’t the goalies at development camp. Also, no, teams need two strong goalies on their rosters these days. If they trade one, they’ll just have to find a replacement. No sense in downgrading when no one is forcing your hand.

If there wasn’t a chance the league would look into it, we would have seen this scenario play out a lot more frequently than it has.

He can't sign for 20% of the 26/27 cap because the 26/27 ceiling has not been officially set, so, if he signs now, he's constrained by the current limits. Once the cap for 26/27 is official, then he can max out using that.

Absolutely ridiculous contract. He shouldn't have gotten that if he had signed after his last season, never mind after two years away from the game. Bonkers.

Be interesting to see how much Toews has left. He didn't look anywhere near his best when he last played, and that was 2 full seasons ago.

He's going to get paid too much for what he brings during the season and his playoff goal scoring is not sustainable. 20.6% shooting percentage over the last two playoffs compared to a career shooting of 10.4% during the regular season for his career and 9.4% in his previous playoffs. Happy to...

Based on his comments at the presser today, sounds like there's a real chance that's what he's doing. Definitely did not sound like he's signing an extension in the near future.

Yup. A small amount of cap savings isn't worth the risk here.

Spezza didn't sign a multiyear deal with that as an expectation. He was clearly at the "this might be my last season" stage for each of those contracts. He didn't take a pay cut because he was promised a FO job.

Doesn't need to become public for the league to become aware of it. As part of team reporting for HRR, this kind of stuff gets reported to the league offices. If someone is employed as part of hockey operations, the league can find out their salary. If he takes a job with MLSE outside of hockey...
