    Leafs Front Office 2026-27

A few things that come to mind: 1) One thing that jumps out at me scrolling through his transaction history is that he hasn't been afraid of making big moves even in his short time as a GM. The whole Rantanen affair maybe didn't exactly work out the way Carolina hoped it would, but he took a...

Jim Nill would have probably been my one true dream choice, so with him off the table his 2nd in command with Dallas certainly gets a bit of a leg-up for me compared to other AGMs. Might also help having Dallas' former head amateur scout here too already.

Yeah it's hard to imagine that Gillis isn't already hired. I can't see MLSE giving full reigns to the other names currently being thrown around without a more veteran guy above them.

The Leafs might get accused of leaning in a little too hard on Gillis connections but Malhotra is generally considered one of the top up and coming head coaches so honestly I'd probably prefer him to any retreads.

I wish people just ignored him like hockey media is seemingly doing. Dude was supposed to be the next Bob McKenzie at TSN which he left allegedly on his own will to go work for a website that was mostly known for posting line-up combinations and starting goalies and now he's left that too (again...

What are the odds Curtis Joseph is our next goalie coach?

Mr. "T" Man of the Match 2026 Edition

I know he has his faults and warts and detractors but I still probably give the MVP to Nylander. Led the team in scoring by a pretty considerable margin even while missing 17 games, 100-point scoring pace, tied for 11th in the league in points-per-game, best 5-on-5 production of his career. All...

Other than Gillis and maybe Ross Mahoney (who hasn't been discussed much and I don't know a ton about him but his experience seems intriguing) I really wouldn't want any of those names listed being hired for the very top job. Guys like Chayka, Hardy, maybe Pronger I could have time for but only...

2025-26 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

I think for me it's about doings things in the proper order and having the right person making the decision. Pelley hires the President, President hires a GM, GM hires a coach. It also goes that way for firings. I don't think Pelley should ever really get a say in who the coach of the team is...

    2025-26 Marlies Thread

Notable bit here of course is that Cowan is included. Hopefully he's able to give the Marlies a big boost for playoffs.

The Sundin thing mostly feels like a "we need to do something quick to make fans happy" move... and it'll probably work.

Regulation wins would be the first tie-breaker, Flames and Rangers have us beat there. I'm comfortable at 5, but if the lottery doesn't go our way and we lose the pick yeah that extra point will keep me up at night for awhile.

Not even a loss, one less point would have done it.
