It did happen a little I think but I'd like to see the extra forward getting shifts alongside McKenna and Paul more instead of on the 4th line.

Well that's better than month-to-month at least, but I really don't have a good feeling about this.

Man that 5th goal against was killer. Knew that was going to end up being the difference. Shot attempts with the top line on the ice were 13-1 Leafs. Roslovic should have had a pair, Marchenko was flying through the neutral zone with the puck, and Matthews had that vintage "I want the puck, I...

Rifai's only played 3 NHL games. I'm curious to see what he can do after a decent string of games together before writing him off. Coaches and teammates always seemed to talk him up nicely.

Yesterday Hiller brought up unprompted that he used 11-7 a lot as coach, so I wondered when we'd see that here. I've always liked it, especially here where it would get guys like Matthews and Nylander and now maybe Marchenko or McKenna an extra shift instead of a dud 4th liner. Players don't...

Some pre-game reading:

Worth mentioning too that even Columbus was going to have him start the season at left wing prior to the trade.

I'd like to see some small tinkering. Keep Nylander with Matthews and Marchenko with Tavares for a stretch of games. Mix up the top-4 D pairings. I'd also probably take Groulx off the 4th line. I've always felt like it's tough for one single player to be the lone physical presence on a 4th line...

Hiller agrees, is it too late to count his vote?

His on-ice results matched his work effort in a genuinely good way for the first month or two he was here. But yeah eventually that ended up being the case too as the season went on.

Yeah that's beginning to get a little weird. It's not like there's that much separating the two of them (both small and mobile-ish defencemen). Stecher likely leans slightly more defensive while Blankenburg offensive. I thought maybe this was a PK thing but Blankenburg killed penalties with both...
