We should extend Quillan to a 7-year, $1.25mil AAV contract.

I was a little surprised about that yeah, especially Joshua because unlike the other two it didn't seem like he was guaranteed to be missing that much time. But I don't think there's a real upside or downside so probably wouldn't read into it in any way.

December feels incredibly optimistic/unlikely for him. But if he does return this season as things stand the Leafs will be able to remove both him and Joshua from LTIR and still ice any cap compliant 23-man roster from the guys in the organization. That means carrying 3 goalies or having...

Akhtyamov loses his waiver exemption next season so it'll be in the Leafs best interest to try him in more games before then anyway.

In a perfect world, maybe. But there's also the reality that Stolarz turns 33 in January and has averaged just 23 starts a season over the past 5 years. Something like 60/40 is probably best case scenario.

Through 2 games and despite only starting a single shift in the defensive end the McKenna-Tavares-Nylander line is down 9-31 in shot attempts, 6-16 in actual shots on net, 0-2 in goals, and have a xGF% of just 16%. Obviously, not ideal. I think JT's looked very slow. Maybe the shorter training...

I'm regretfully bucking the trend here but only very slightly: Cowan HM Stolarz PK as a whole was great too.

Obviously it was tough to predict Marchenko would be acquired 3 months later but he really makes Roslovic kinda redundant. He was very clearly meant to provide the right-handed offensive option for Matthews and PP1 that's now filled by Kirill. I think he's still got value especially as an...

Combining this with the fact that this is basically the Habs exact same team from last season I was kind of expecting a deflating blow-out here. So I'll take a close-ish loss.

Don't see any reason not to keep this unanimous: Nylander HM Marchenko

Good timing...

Question was about Marchenko, not Merzlikins. It doesn't look like any details about Kirill's deal has been released yet aside from the basics.

Merzlikins recovery period was expected to be 4-6 months, with his surgery taking place a month ago. So barring a set-back he would be expected to return at some point this season.

Chayka says that Wood will start with the Marlies and get a chance to work his way back to the NHL. His contract will likely never look good but I still think there's some potential there as far as a 4th line player goes. His and Duhaime's speed would be crazy together if he can.

Top-6 goes from Knies, McMann, and Maccelli to Marchenko, McKenna, and Roslovic. That bottom-6 has just one player who would crack this years team (Roy).
