Ummm... I'm pretty sure Babcock is flying the zone because he'd rather not have his wingers have to get the puck out of their own end (he doesn't trust them).  So, if there was anyone I'd bet would say "mitch, go cherry pick" because it would create lots of space for his team to come up the ice...

Apparently they did offer him similar money (maybe structure is different).  It sounds like none of these guys believed in the org. and didn't want to commit long term.  Which is probably worse than the owner being too cheap to sign them.

He's on a NHL contract at the start of the season.  He could play the entire time in the AHL this season and still be Playoff eligible for the Leafs. On the other hand, they are saying "will be called up"... I'm assuming that he will be called up at 3:01 pm.  He needs to be on the Marlies...

Cool.  It feels like it should be more considering the amount of times the Leafs don't even draw a single penalty in a game.  >:(

I think they re-sign him.  They need SOMEBODY to make more than league minimum / ELC to hit the cap floor.  Might as well be one of the best wingers in the game.  I think the main sticking point is probably percentage of the deal in bonus money and how much of that comes in the next two July's. 

Then again, the Leafs are the least penalized team in the league and also draw the least amount of Power Plays in the league.  Therefore, they SPEND the most time at 5-on-5.  I'd really like to see the percentage of available time shown.

Hyman-Nylander-Brown was once very fun (in the AHL), and Mango is an upgrade on the left.  My long-winded way of saying, hell ya it should be fun.

I'd say there is no chance in hell St. Louis would agree to that deal.  If they would have, we'd have Parayako on our team right now instead of Muzzin.  (Ie, I'd rather trade Z + 3 of our own 1st for Parayako vs the Muzzin deal)

I doubt St. Louis would do that.  Looking at it another way, would you trade Mitch and Z for Parayako and a 1st? That is way less attractive than essentially trading Mitch for four 1sts and one of Karlsson/Panarin/Stone

I think evaluating defensemen on primary points is kinda hogwash.  The analytics groups have proven that for forwards, secondary assists is not predictive of future performance and thats why we talk alot about primary points.  IIRC, there was less "its just noise" for d-men. On another note...
