Training Camp Thread - Currently with Marner now

Well, the interesting thing here is: a)  Harpur and Gravel may be just as bad... but can they play the Right side? b)  Schmaltz and Holl are probably a bit better 5v5, but they want Marincin to PK and those guys don't look like they can. So, here we are holding our noses while we gleefully...

Oh and by the way, some roster permutations will only allow 20 players on the roster when everyone is healthy: Matthews 11634 Rielly 5000 Andersen 5000 Tavares 11000 Muzzin 4000 Hutch 700 Marner 10983 Ceci 4500 Nylander 6962.366 Barrie 2750 Kessel 1200 Kerfoot 3500 Dermott...

Very good way of explaining it.  Just one correction above.  When Hyman returns, we will be very close to our LTIR limit with just 21 players on the roster.

Furthermore, running a roster of 20 guys just so we can marginally upgrade from Hutch to Louis opens up the risk that ANY player that has a minor injury means we are shorthanded that night.  At least with Hutch, you'd need two guys to be out with minor injuries before we are shorthanded that night.

Let be clear.  The problem is, based on the projected roster, that only 21 guys will fit under the LTIR created space once Hyman and Dermott return.  If you swap out Hutch for Domingue, that drops to 20 guys. Dropping to 20 guys for a few days DOES NOT mean the space between your cap hit that...

https://www.capfriendly.com/teams/mapleleafs/cap-tracker/2018 Leafs had two players on LTIR two years ago all season- Lupul and Horton.  They totalled 10.55M in salary. Notice how they used only 5.7M over the course of the season.  Yet they had $0 final cap space?  Yes, their daily cap hit...

No its not.  LTIR space is not pro-rated like regular cap space.  example: Cap 81.5 Million Roster amount on Day x:  80.5 Million Accumulated Hit:  80.5 * 1/181 (can't remember the number of days) Accumulated Space:  1M * 1/181 At the deadline (say 60 days left in season) you'd be able to...

So how are they going to fit in a player for 300k?

    2019-2020 NHL Thread

Check the training camp thread and you'll see the discussion on this. Boils down to the fact that he makes it almost impossible to have 21 guys on the roster once Hyman and Dermott returns (barring a trade).  He's gotta be significantly better than the other options with a 700k cap hit to make...

LTIR space is not calculated daily and you can't build up additional space by going below your LTIR created new limit.

No there isn't.  Either 21 guys fit under the room created by LTIR or they don't.  Moving a guy down and dropping to 20 just means you aren't using the room created by LTIR.

Not when you are in LTIR.  You don't accumulate any cap space- you've used it all every day you are in LTIR.

Condon 2.4M.  Not happening.  You'd have to trade one of Kappy/Mango/Kerfoot to fit him in. Domingue 1.15M.  I believe his 450k more than Hutch would mean only carrying 18 skaters once Hyman returns (I don't think even the cheapest 19 salaries would fit) (again, unless a trade happens)

sens sign Chabot to an 8-year extension worth $64mil

I think Orr is the most obvious.  80's you could argue Lemieux over Gretzky. Then you need another D-man and it comes down to Lidstrom vs Karlsson and IMO Lidstrom is miles better defensively even if he gives up some offense to Karlsson.  So those choices were easy.  Then you need a goalie...

Exactly.  Although, with Orr, Gretzky, Hasek, Lidstrom, and Crosby... I'm pretty sure you'd win playing 4on5 anyways

Yeah the general sentiment seems to be excellent work and not my reaction so clearly I woke up on the wrong side of the bed.

I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic... but my reaction to seeing that was "what the fuck is this" not "good job PR guy"

    Leafs to announce captain

So you think they will rotate the A's around, because teams can only have two A's and one C per game (or three A's).  Naming a Captain does not mean we will keep three Assistants, although it is possible if the A alternates between players.  Or if you are crazy like the Sharks, you let...
