My point about Steeves is not that he's some superstar, but the guy spent 4 years in the Leaf system, was a big-time producer every year for the Marlies, yet only got into 14 Leaf games over that time. Where is the incentive for those guys on the Marlies? I mean, they gave Holmberg 68 games and...

I've found Berube's handling of the roster to be questionable in many respects. Good to see that he's splitting up Matthews and Nylander (again). That group (Matthews/Knies/Nylander) just hasn't been good enough to justify putting 3/4 of their best offensive players on one line.

I'm mainly interested in seeing 2 things tonight: (1) smarter play, especially by the forwards. Don't all get caught cheating for offense, no dumb giveaways at the blue line leading to odd man rushes, and get back to support the dmen and goalies (2) more intensity - get that compete-o-meter...

Unfortunately, Tanev is almost 36 and has taken a lot of abuse over the years. He wasn't playing great before the injuries. It's quite possible he won't ever be as effective as he was last year and that is a HUGE problem for this team.

Think I'm giving them one more chance. I'll tune in for the Boston rematch to see if they have any kind of pulse, any kind of inner strength.
