    sens @ Leafs - Feb. 28th, 7:00pm - SN

I saw Rielly score the 1st goal and after a little more of inept plays, turned it off. Even though they were up, they were lousy. Couldn't watch any more.

2025-26 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

I read an insider report (not sure how credible - not mainstream but seemed plausible) that MLSE board wanted Treliving to go for it - try to make the playoffs. Paying the max cap hit plus LTIR overage, they were not going to be happy missing the playoffs revenue - which is understandable. We...

2025-26 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

It is a team sport and a team result. Everyone shares some responsibility. I think Treliving has to carry more responsibility than most. It is his DNA footprint. I can't imagine him surviving. That has to be fairly obvious to him. So why let him hang around? Under Joe's thought of "sell off of...

    2026 Olympics

OEL dressed but didn't get a shift against Italy Olympic hockey teams dress 22: typically 13 forwards and 7 dmen They gave OEL a 1 min shift in the 1st period against Finland Then another 3 minutes in each of the 2nd and 3rd periods as Sweden tried to catch up. Looks like he's their 7th dman for...

    Panarin to L.A.

I think Lindros tried. Tavares came as a UFA because he wanted to be here. "Can you think of a single time where the Leafs were able to strong arm a team into giving up a superior player for underwhelming cost because they insisted on playing in Toronto." That's a bit of a loaded question...

    Panarin to L.A.

He did have a choice. He was a RFA. They would have to qualify him at $7.x mil and potentially deal with him in arbitration - which had been filed. He could play a year in Calgary and leave as a UFA that following summer. OR they could move him and get some return - which is what they elected...

    Panarin to L.A.

I don't see where I suggested that. Gaudreau was arguably worse in terms of talent return - they got nothing. But UFAs have been leaving teams since players got to be UFAs. It is not unique to Toronto. At least Tkachuk tried to help Calgary to get some return.

Columbus up 3-0 over the Hawks after 2 ... about to go 11-1 in their last 12, pulling 2 pts ahead of the Leafs with a game in hand What a crazy season.

    Panarin to L.A.

There was a time we could. But we're on the back nine. Older roster, few prospects & picks. O'Reilly not wanting to be here. The spotlight isn't for everybody. What happened with Marner probably did not reflect well around the league. Stuff like that.

No matter how the season goes from this point, there would be some entertainment There has been valid criticism of Berube but I don't blame him for all of this mess. I think he's on ok guy/players coach. Except for a couple of years of Berube's contract, they don't have much to lose at this...

    Canucks vs. Leafs - Jan. 31st, 7:00pm - SN

Vancouver is at the very bottom of the league Calgary is not much better Under the circumstances they're in, if they can't make a contest out of those two games ... I'm interested to see how Rifai does. He didn't look too bad the last time he was up.

I have to say that I am disappointed. It seemed obvious that they would not be as good a team without Marner but I didn't expect them to be this poor/bad.

That results in .555 pts win% for the season. Boston is currently in the last wildcard spot with .609 pts win% There are a whole bunch of teams between the Leafs and Boston So the chances of .555 making the playoffs are not great. This site calculates 5% chance for Leafs making the playoffs...

    Kraken vs. Leafs - Jan. 29th, 10:00pm - SN

You could try 1-800-Tres-Bad or 1-800-DNR-Leaf Too late for 911 If he looks at the standings, they're 2nd last in the East needing .784 hockey to pass Boston for the final wild card spot. Treliving is probably delaying the inevitable by feeding him magic numbers ... Meanwhile, some players...

2025-26 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

Dubas (or Lamoriello) started that far too soon Part of how Detroit remained in the playoffs year after year was they kept their young players in the minors a year or more longer. When they brought them up, they were more developed and a better bang for their contracted cap buck which helps...

I agree. They won't recover what they gave up to get Laughton or Carlo for example. But if they let them get to UFA status, they'll get nothing. So to me, getting something is better than nothing. However, I share some of your pessimism in that I doubt they'll move that quickly to shed...

2025-26 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

Eat some of Rielly's contract to help trade him. Cap space won't be a problem any time soon. He's got a good playoff record - best +/- for the franchise - he elevates his game. They have never given him a great partner. He's got a good head on his shoulders. He can still skate. Don't know what...
