    2026-27 Marlies Thread

I wonder how many AHL teams have their own dedicated assistant GM, let alone two of them. Presumably this will lead to Bourque taking over the Marlies GM job in a year-ish with Hardy moving to more full-time Leafs responsibilities.

    NHL Draft 2026

Also everyone was so down heading into it considering IIRC we were more likely to lose the pick than to even stay at 5. Just such a wild reversal of fortune in such a short time.

2026-27 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion | Official: Sundin & Chayka to lead front office

They were linked from their time in Arizona but Goldberg's still with LA so it's possible that was just lazy reporting or the fit just wasn't there anymore or they decided to avoid any possible tampering accusations by not hiring him at all.

2026-27 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion | Official: Sundin & Chayka to lead front office

Gold was considered a finalist for the GM job here, as well as in Vancouver. He's a Toronto native whose biggest strength seems to be navigating the cap/CBA. Wonder if the Leafs are looking to bring him on board to replace Pridham.

    2026-27 Marlies Thread

Ah yeah I was wondering how he only got a 1-year deal. Don't believe a Russian prospect coming over on an AHL-only deal is pretty common, but I guess it makes sense here. Obvintsev seems to have only appeared in 6 games last season in the VHL (Russia's AHL equivalent). 3 goalies on his team...

Figured as much. I'll turn off my dark mode in solidarity for now.

    FEEDBACK ON NEW FORUM SOFTWARE

That's a weird one. Can't seem to find anything that would toggle that for certain user groups. Out of curiosity what happens if you go here: https://tmltoday.com/community/misc/style

    FEEDBACK ON NEW FORUM SOFTWARE

You can get to a dark mode by going to your account "preferences" and changing the forum "design" from "TMLToday Design" to the "Default Style". Then underneath that option the "style variation" drop down menu shows up and you can choose dark mode there. At least it's a work around for now.

2026-27 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion | Official: Sundin & Chayka to lead front office

Just remembered this. Those within the Florida organization always seemed to give McCabe a lot of credit for his work there. I wondered if Sundin would be looking to bring him aboard, but at the time it seemed like his role would overlap a little with Wickenheiser's. Now there's an opening...

2026-27 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion | Official: Sundin & Chayka to lead front office

That's the thing. I'm sure all the individuals being let go are good people, but ultimately this team hasn't succeeded in a lot of areas over the past long, long, long time so it's tough to really say change throughout the organization isn't warranted. You can't always just change the person at...

2026-27 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion | Official: Sundin & Chayka to lead front office

Morrison, meh he's been here forever doubt that's a big loss. I've been saying since even before Dubas was fired the impact our analytics group has had on our teams success feels a little underwhelming, so I've been expecting a revamp of that for awhile. Leach is definitely the biggest...

    2026-27 General Trades & Signings

I started to wonder if they'd let him go considering the way it was structured (allows him to walk to UFA with Utah being unable to trade him) but I'm glad they matched. Otherwise I would have been upset the Leafs didn't make the offer sheet instead.

The league is feverishly scanning this video for any violations Chayka may have made.

2026-27 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion | Official: Sundin & Chayka to lead front office

The Leafs updated the coaches on their website and Sullivan is not listed as an assistant coach anymore, or anywhere else on the page. Again presumably that means he's taking a different position in the organization somewhere, likely either Marlies head coach or management.

2026-27 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion | Official: Sundin & Chayka to lead front office

Lalonde and Van Ryn are both out. No mention of Sullivan here. Chayka said something about the possibility of someone in the coaching staff being moved to a different position in the organization a little while ago when he was asked about the rumour Van Ryn wasn't returning. Guessing that's...

    Armchair GM Thread 2026/27

Wright has a higher ceiling I think, especially as a centre, but more bust potential. Cowan is a safer bet to be a consistent middle-6 forward. It'd be an interesting trade. His faceoff issues could be offset, at least for the next couple years, by having Tavares on his wing.

    Armchair GM Thread 2026/27

Would you do Wright for Cowan? That's probably the only way it works for Seattle.

2026-27 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion | Official: Sundin & Chayka to lead front office

When I plugged him in at $2mil the other day I realized that would have made things tricky for the Leafs to fully utilize all of Domi's LTIR space (if/when that happens), so I figured that he would come in a little lower than that. Even better that they got it to that number on 2-year deal...
