Brett MacLean of the Phoenix Coyotes suffered a cardiac arrest...

Brett MacLean of the Phoenix Coyotes has been admitted to hospital after suffering a cardiac emergency.

The team issued a statement on Tuesday saying the 23-year-old winger has been admitted to hospital in London, Ont., after suffering a medical emergency while playing hockey Monday night in Owen Sound, Ont.

The Coyotes said MacLean received CPR on site before being taken by ambulance to hospital in Owen Sound. He was then taken by air ambulance to London, where he was admitted to the cardiac intensive care unit.

Word on the street is that bystanders are being given partial credit for quick thinking using the onsite AED.

Great news on #Coyotes Brett MacLean. He's awake and coherent. Hope is to move out of I.C.U soon. Cause of collapse still undetermined.

Nice article on the Rangers' Brad Richards.  If only the Leafs had players with these types of characteristics...

Looks like the Great One is really the Greatest One of them all...

From ESPN the Magazine...

Using goals versus threshold, a metric that assigns value to a player, in goals, above what a replacement player would contribute.. GVT enables us to see a player's effect on goal differential while adjusting for the strength of the league. It's a fine tool to compare players from different eras. Gretzky demolishes his rivals in the metric, beating Howe 42.6 to 36.7 when you average each player's best three years, and crushing Lemieux 40.8 to 26.8 over a top five-year run. In total GVT and playoff GVT, Gretzky (520.4/112.7) far surpasses Howe (465.9/54.5) and Lemieux (327.3/56.9). Lemieux does nip Gretzky in GVT per 82 games, 29.3 to 28.7, but that's about the only edge No. 99 doesn't own.

Cam Janssen, what a class act, he gave a radio interview where he openly admits to trying to injure guys and participates in gay bashing, if a guy is gay Cam says he will kick his a$$.

What a loser. It's one thing to do those things, but to boast about them on public radio is disgraceful.

Look on the bright side, at least the world isnt losing an incredible intelect to all the punches he's taken.

This bit of news instantly catapults him to one of my most hated players in the league, but i feel that I'm stooping to his level if I hate him for his hate. ill just feel sorry for him and his children if he passes on his hatred generationally.

It's times like this that I hope some of the stronger fighters in the league (or even in the AHL) has a gay brother/cousin/close personal friend/whatever, and just lays him out.

They better use that quote the next time he's up in front of Shanna-ban and they better be giving him 20+ games for premeditation.

I don't know if the Leafs get the Devils in pre-season action, but, if they do, it wouldn't shock me if someone took a few healthy runs at Janssen to get in Burke's good books.

That being said, after having made these comments, it wouldn't surprise me if Janssen's not a member of the Devils for much longer.

I didn't listen to the interview, but the summary on Puck Daddy seems to lean towards it being fairly obviously a joke. It's an off-colour, uncensored internet show. Not saying it was funny or cool, but I don't think he was actually serious. He was just stupid.

On getting in players' heads as a physical player:

(The host says, "If the guy was sucking [expletive] four weeks ago, you're going to know about it.")

"Oh, if he's sucking [expletive] he's getting his ass kicked. [Laughter]"

I know where you're coming from there but there's a part of me that thinks that if a guy is going to be this much of a moron that I'd almost rather he say it out loud. I want to know who is like this and, hopefully, have him face the consequences of reality.

I did watch/listen to all 14 minutes of the interview and they where (at least partially) joking of course.

Do you know many people who aren't homophobes who make jokes like this?

Every joke starts with a small kernel of truth and Janssen doesn't seem like the type of surreal, abstract, alternative comedian who would have puled that response to the "expletive sucking" question from left field without referencing his own ideas in his response.

I know the You Can Play team have reached out to him to try and help educate both him and The Devils.  I imagine he should jump on that and be insanely apologetic as it's probably his only shot at remaining in the league.

All of this of course is not to mention the fact that he says he tries and loves to injure other players.

I don't disagree with you at all, I guess that was just my quick initial reaction. He's obviously a very stupid human being and he deserves all the difficulty he gets from the NHL where this is concerned.

I have never liked the guy, since that hit on Kabby, so this just increases my dislike for him. He's now up there with that loser Avery.

For anyone wanting to watch as the youtube link has been taken down by the offending radio hosts.

It also has some direct quotes too.
