Sarge said:Man, pretty much a whiff on Boston's part there as far as a top 10 pick goes.
Sarge said:Not a great draft but, Couture went one spot behind Hamil so you know, ouch! Also, they passed on Eller, Shattenkirk, Pacioretty, Backlund, and Perron to name a fue. I know it's common for all teams to make mistakes in every draft but Hamil strikes me as a significant one.

I'm not sure a draft goes by where a team doesn't make a wrong pick. Most teams (as you know) look for a need. Boston was looking for a center, probably one with size, and Hamill fit the bill.
Luckily for Boston, we traded them enough picks for there to be a few misfires and for them to make out okay.
Corn Flake said:Pretty strange and surprising to see Hamil turn out to be a fringe guy who may never make it. He was a very solid pick at the time and 6 months after that draft everyone thought the B's were the ones with the steal of the draft. Apparently not.

SGT said:I might be inclined to categorize this as something more than "minor" but the Sharks have reacquired D Brad Stuart (well, his rights anyway) in a deal from the Red Wings for the rights to W/C Andrew Murray and a conditional 2014 draft pick. I'm guessing San Jose has a fairly good feeling they can get him signed.

Dude, I'm not LA based.CarltonTheBear said:Stuart signing with a LA-based team has been the worst-kept secret in the entire NHL when it comes to free agency this summer.
