Here is the near-complete (more to come later)Rogers broadcast schedule for the upcoming 2014-2015 NHL season.  Here are some highlights:

There will also be five Original Six matchups.

MarkLazerus: Patrick Sharp's agent, Rick Curran, says that Stan Bowman has assured him that Sharp will NOT be traded. #Blackhawks

TSNBobMcKenzie: It's believed Kane-Toews initial ask of CHI on extension is around $12M/yr each. They'll end up lower but still could be $10M+ AAV players.

TSNBobMcKenzie: If there are two guys to redefine new CBA era/rising cap, it's Kane and Toews. Each has one year left on existing deal. Fascinating dynamic.

TSNBobMcKenzie: Many agents believe cap could be as high as $75M for 2015-16, continue to escalate rapidly. Double digit AAV for superstars may be new norm.

It's clearly getting to the point where many of us have to reframe our ideas of things like market value and such.

Whatever makes the Clarkson contract look more appealing...

Well, unless Clarkson starts playing significantly better, nothing is going to make that contract more appealing, but, the contracts we'll see handed out to top end guys in the next couple summers will definitely put Phaneuf's contract appear more reasonable for a player of his level of talent, and could make Kessel's contract look like a bargain.

You knew I was making a funny...I do agree on the other points.  I would imagine though that the Crosby and Malkin deals get thrown around as comparables for Toews/Kane.

Definitely. $8M? bah, that's nothing.

In a league where similarly talented players could find themselves earning $10M+ per, it would be, relatively speaking, of course.

I'm not concerned about the increase in salary, but aren't they headed straight back to a lockout?

There are probably at least ten teams that will be crippled by having to meet the salary floor in a few years if this growth continues...

I know there is some sort of revenue sharing, but I'm still skeptical.

Malkin, maybe, but it'd be pretty ridiculous for the Owners to engage in a lockout in part to do away with the sort of deal that Crosby signed and then try to use it as a comparable for a deal they wanted future players to sign.

I'd keep Toews at that price and trade Kane for cheaper wingers.  Building a team around wingers as opposed to centers doesn't seem to be the way to go.  Kane seems to be a fairly similar player to Kessel and would merit a similar deal (slightly more as it is signed later).

Hearing that former Leafs GM John Ferguson Jr. is joining the Boston Bruins front office. Has been with San Jose last number of years

Everything makes sense now. JFJ is Looper.

So . . . tampering?

Apparently the Flyers are letting Lecavalier's agent seek out trade possibilities.

I wouldn't choose either by any means but gun to my head between Lecavalier at 4 years/18 million and Bolland at the same price and I'd probably go with Vince.

If Philly didn't already have so many crappy defencemen I'd suggest a Gleason-Lecavalier swap.

Former NHLer Gino Odjiok given limited lifespan due to "rare terminal illness"...

DarrenDreger: Cap teams are getting nervous as NHL-NHLPA continue discussions on next years salary cap. Less than $70 mil will be problematic for many.

The draft lottery appears to be getting some significant changes over the next 2 years.

For 2015, the lottery odds will be smoothed out, but the big change will come in 2016, where the top 3 picks will be decided by a lottery.

Both are welcome changes in my opinion, anything to discourage tanking.
