Allowing Fans

Nope, keep the fans out.  We will see a spike in Montreal after that game, guaranteed.  All those people celebrating in the streets and not social distancing.

Absolutely No Excuse for this

This is an amazing idea
Reward the front line workers that have put in 18 months of tireless work with tickets to game 7.  They are fully vaccinated, zero risk.

They could have shown compassion and integrity to them and also send a message to everyone that we are progressing.
But no, instead we have a government that lacks any common sense.

What a disappointment that they rejected this

As one of those front line workers I?m perfectly content with this not happening.  We don?t need perks and rewards.  We need people to get their vaccine and respect precaution rules so we can get back to normal.  We aren?t looking for handouts

Now that it?s happening, would you turn the ticket down? Leafs @ Habs game 7?

I heard on a pod that maybe if you see double vaxxed people getting to do things it could incentivize fence sitters. Not sure I buy it but, maybe!

Would I turn them down if offered.  Absolutely not.  I am interested in seeing how they dole out the tickets whether they are just partnering with hospitals.  Nurses vs. Physicians.  Focus on ICU/ER/COVID unit workers vs. any health care worker.  I think it's a nice gesture, I just want to see people follow the rules so we can all go to games.

I still stand by my statement that I'm not looking for these things.  I want to see the province as a whole return to normal.  Quebec put themselves in a better environment to allow having people start to attend events.  Montreal didn't have fans because of the playoff game, they have opened up attendance to venues.  We aren't there just yet so I want to see it because it's the formal policy for the province and not just a token gesture in response to the Habs having 2500 in attendance.

EDIT: I do know a few hospitals have sent out their emails now with somewhere between 50-75 tickets available that are going into a lottery with registered staff who have been vaccinated twice.

I guess enough people complained for them to change their mind so quick.  Shows you the power of the people

I get that as a front line worker you aren't looking for these things but its a nice gesture and it shows progress....it gives us hope that soon we will be back to normal

This is a start.

Personally I would have allowed more then 550 but again Rome wasn't built in a day.....this is better then nothing.

I'm just waiting for the backlash from all of the non hockey fans out there.

Well . This is as much about some recognition for the health care workers and the numbers of cases is down below a 1000 in Ontario for the first time in 3 months (thanks to them) so I?m not sure if any backlash is warranted.

Put pressure?  No.

But allowing a handful of health care workers who are fully vaccinated to go to the game in a spacious arena in which they'll be spaced out?  Sure.  We have to slowly start returning to a somewhat "normal" state some time.

I believe based on all having both shots. 500 was way under. I would have put in 5000 health workers, and added one extra rule. * your noise level must be at max*
