Marlo Dano, 1st in 2016 and a conditional for Ladd, Harrison and Fraser.  Wpg retains 36% of Ladd's remaining salary.

Jets get exactly what they were looking for: a 1st and a top prospect. Chicago potentially gets a Cup. Good trade.

I'd say he's definitely Chicago's top prospect. Not a Nylander/Marner guy though no, but obviously nobody was moving a prospect like that for Ladd.

SportsnetSpec: The conditional pick going to Winnipeg in the Ladd deal is a 3rd rounder in 2018 if Hawks win the Cup.

Oh, that makes sense.  I read it more as in a top prospect among all teams when his numbers would seem a little underwhelming for that.

No, but he's the type of "top" prospect that gets moved at the deadline. The teams with real top prospects aren't moving them for rentals (with Tampa being a possible exception).

Second deadline is a row Chicago's traded a 1st rounder and a good prospect for a pending UFA. Vermette walked but Chicago won a Cup so who cares. They're going to have a very tough time getting Ladd re-signed, even if they do move Bickell. So pressure's on.

I've never been a huge Ladd fan, so it seem like a bit of an overpayment.

I also wonder how long it's going to be till Chicago has to start thinking about the future.

He was a key piece in the trade that sent Saad to Columbus. Scored 21 points in 35 games there last season and many were speaking very highly of him. But yeah, he wasn't really able to do much in Chicaog's line-up this season.

I'm pretty surprised the Jets got that much actually. Pretty much all the talking heads were saying that nobody was willing to meet that price for Ladd. Chicago's in a pretty unique position though in that their odds to win a Cup with Ladd (or even without him) are higher than anyone elses.

Yeah, and, really, odds are, we're talking about the 27th pick or later. So, a late first and an okay prospect for Ladd and a couple other guys. The Hawks get a top 6 winger and some injury insurance - and Fraser is exactly the kind of guy I can see them turning into a quality checking line type.

I don't know if you're thinking of a different Fraser but he seems like strictly AHL-filler/contract dump. But Ladd-Toews-Hossa can be one hell of a line. Funny though that all 3 are almost having career-low seasons. Ladd hasn't scored his little since he originally left Chicago. So all 3 are going to have to turn things up.

Ladd is a guaranteed 25-30 goalscorer according to Kypreos.

Only twice has he reached 25(the last time being 4 years ago) and he's never touched 30.

Don't worry, he's exactly the type of player who gets better in his 30s.
