Game Notes

BOS
?Rask (24-10-4, 2.17 GAA, .922 Sv%) will likely start for the Bruins
?In their past 28 games Boston's record is: 22-3-3. They haven't lost back-to-back games in that entire stretch
?Tuukka Rask's personal stats in his past 26 games (this extends past Boston's record in the above point) are: 21-2-2, 1.79 GAA, .935 Sv%
?Boston might be just a single point ahead of the Leafs in the current standings, but they also have 5 games in hand on Toronto because schedule-makers are weird

TOR
?Andersen (31-16-4, 2.66 GAA, .923 Sv%) will likely start for the Leafs
?The Leafs will of course be without Auston Matthews tonight. He'll miss some time with a shoulder injury
?Nylander moved to centre on the top line in Auston's absence. The last time Matthews was out of the line-up Nylander and Marleau alternated at centre for home/away games. Babcock said if Nylander performs well he will stay there while Matthews is out
?Babcock said yesterday that he hadn't quite decided which one of Leivo and Martin would be inserted into the line-up yet. Fingers crossed!
?Nikiatia Zaitisev's pointless streak has now reached 20 games

Injuries

?Kevan Miller - Upper Body - Injured Reserve
?Anders Bjork - Shoulder - Injured Reserve
Code:

?Nathan Horton - Back - Out indefinitely
?Joffrey Lupul - Actually Injured - Out indefinitely
?Auston Matthews - Shoulder - Day to day

They need Polak with Marchand playing.

I'm not sure why the Leafs are the betting favorites in this game with Matthews being injured.  Should be a great game to watch though.  I hope Leivo plays well.

Yup. They definitely need a slow, plodding defenceman because the Bruins have a quick, skilled forward who plays a chippy physical game. That'll show 'em!

So who would you rather then?  Carrick?  The problem is that the Leafs don't have much of a viable replacement for Polak.  That should be their one deadline acquisition IMO.  I was hoping Liljegren would get a late season callup but I guess not.  At least Polak brings some grit.  I don't like him either, honestly.  But if he even somewhat prevents guys like Marchand from running amok without consequence that's worth something, IMO.

Thing is, I think we've got enough evidence that Marchand is Marchand no matter what defensemen are on the other team.

The evidence that guys like Polak do nothing to cause guys like Marchand from changing the way the play is overwhelming, so, yes, I would much prefer Carrick. He's a far more talented, more mobile player that does more to help the Leafs play their game the way they want to, rather than inserting a lesser talent in reaction to how the other team might play. If the Leafs want to win, they need to dictate the pace, not react to the team they're playing.

Only thing I can see is maybe the grit/dirty factor? He's really the nastiest Dman we have and by all accounts dishes it out pretty good. If he punches Marchand in the face a couple of times, I'll be happy lol.
Hope Leivo can get on a roll.

I like Roman. There I said it. Me and my friend Mike agree. We both like Roman.

I stand with Nikechtia
I stand with Romane

Switch Komarov and Kapanen and I can deal with that...though I'd rather just leave Marner with Kadri and put Kapanen with Nylander.

Babcock back to being an idiot.

He?s the only person in the universe who thinks putting the guy with he lowest points per 60 on the first line is a good idea. Every single player in the line up is a better option for that spot. Immensely frustrating.

Babcock, trolling this board without even having an account!  ???
