Forum database error

Should I just delete the Carolina GDT and say the database error did it?

But yeah props to Rick for figuring that one!

Why can't this site maintain a database?  They've been maintaining a database for years and it's always the same problem.  No heart I say.  They need to fix this problem today.  They need to tear the whole site and build it back up properly but focus on the database this time.

Sweet.  Muzzin doesn't have a hand injury....we also just got beaten by a zamboni driver.

No. It's clearly the server. It's job is to keep the database running smoothly, and provide the kind of software and structure that prevents these kinds of fatal errors. It's current techniques are old and outdated, and do not reflect how message boards are run these days. It's time to bring in a more modern server, with fresh software.

Don't tell me it's the server.  Just look at the way the database is being maintained.  A bunch of script kiddies, every last one of them.  I'm a product architect at a software company so I clearly know what the problem is without having any real knowledge about what is going on with the website, and I refuse to offer up any real solutions on how to fix this problem, but I will continue to complain about it over and over and over again.  Every time I think that a message should have been posted by someone on here without knowing if they attempted to post a message or not, it will definitely be because of a database issue and the problem is with the maintenance of that database.  All because I have a keyboard.  Until CTB bans me.

It's a pretty easy solution.  Why do they not just hit the server.

Clearly there is a philosophical debate about whether it's better to have a fast, skilled database or a slower, more robust one that isn't afraid to drop the bits and defend itself and its data-friends.

Turn it off for a few days. Make it watch other databases for awhile.

I think it's pretty clear that we have an immature server.  It needs to decide what kind of server it wants to be.  I'm suggesting we cancel server maintenance tomorrow and regroup for game on Saturday.

I love this place.

Also, they should have traded the database at the deadline for literally anything they could get.  A bag of abacuses.

Trading the database for literally anything is basically telling everyone you're giving up on the network. That's not what's going on here.

This site will never make it to reddit with that attitude.

I don't want to jsut make it to reddit. I want to the site to compete for the top spot on Google on a consistent basis.
