per Pierre LeBrun.

Nice signing, depending on the price. He and Spezza had some pretty good results in their short time in Ottawa. Another nice move from Nill.

Benn-Seguin-Nichushkin
Roussel-Spezza-Hemsky

Plus Eakin and Ritchie on the 3rd line with Horcoff and Peverely kicking around too? Solid forward group and a great goalie too.

Not much on the blue line but that can change too.

Anyways, I think they're a good example of how once a team really seems to have the guys they want to build around in place then making these sorts of signings make a lot of sense to bolster the roster. One of the problems the Leafs have had in recent years has been they've wanted to sign those guys first and figure out the big pieces later.

They have about 9 million in cap space and need to sign a few more guys but they could definitely use a little help on the blueline.  Their forwards are good enough to make the playoffs and be a threat to knock teams off.  I would still put them below the LA/Chicago mold by quite a bit.
