Hobbies Thread

I know many of you collect Leafs stuff, or NFL jerseys, or knitting...  Whatever it may be, feel free to share what your hobby is.

Mine is collecting hats - good old baseball hats from anywhere - business, sports, you name it.  If anyone wants to get me a Christmas present, I always suggest a ball cap.

I've just recently started collecting hockey jerseys.  I'm also big into hockey memorabilia/paraphernalia -- hockey pucks, banners, hats, autographs, stuff like those mini Stanley Cups, etc.  When I eventually have my man cave finished, it'll all be displayed there.

As many did in the 80's and 90's, card collecting was a huge hobby as well.  I haven't looked at my cards in a good 5 years.  I'd love to go through them and see what I may have.  I'm sure I have a rookie card or two of some unknown at the time who went on to great things.

I have a few odd sports related collections - memorabilia from defunct teams, jerseys of players who got into legal trouble, autographs from oddball 70's relief pitchers in the books they wrote. I don't take any of them all that seriously but it's something I tend to be on the lookout.

I collect Comic Books and Hockey Cards.  I am knee deep into both.

Have tens of thousands of comics, it really is absurd.  I am almost done the entire run of Daredevil (all ~550 or so)... Just need a few here and there that I pick up when I find in good condition for a reasonable price at shows or on ebay.  Have large runs of Batman, Detective Comics, Spawn, Punisher, X-Men and the Amazing Spider-man as well.

My hockey card collection is pretty extensive as well.

Wow, you were Sheldon Cooper, right down til the last sentence there.  :D

I collect the pucks from hattricks that I score.  Wheather its pickup with buddies or mens league games.  If I get a hattrick the puck comes home. I  never let anyone see me take it.  My kids shoot them in the basement now. I play 4 or 5 times a week so there is alot of pucks down there surprisingly.

I don't really have any hobbies, thought that's something I'd like to fix. You know, something that doesn't involve a computer or TV.

I'm thinking of joining a ping pong league for adults. That could be fun.

Well my hobbies don't include collecting things, but I am an avid hockey player.  Play at least 3 times a week throughout the whole year down here in San Jose, California.  I also like playing video games quite a bit.  And in a little twist, to find something to do with my wife on a weekly basis, I started doing vocal lessons with here.  I know I know.  Not very manly, but it's something I can do with my wife instead of just hockey for me.

Apart from the odd sporty thing i.e. running, tennis (which I barely play anymore) and golf (which I can't afford anymore) I really don't have a hobby like collecting or anything... I suppose if I had more time and disposable income.  :-\ I suppose I could go around collecting the souls of Habs and Sens fans... but those are like really, really, rare.

Comic Books...at 25 just got back into collecting comic books. Opposed from my childhood, I am not too big a fan of any of the traditional mainstream titles. I collect a lot of smaller titles that for me at least compare to the quality of a good movie, book or television show.

I also collect movies...I have over 300 DVD's and 100 Blu Rays. When I was younger I'd buy any movie that was at a discounted price. Since Blu Ray I just buy movies that I consider among the best.

I'm a pretty damn boring person. Other than watch television and movies and play NHL 12, I don't have any actual hobbies.

Oh man I love picking up discounted movies. I used to go crazy at those Blockbuster deals (4 dvd's for 20$) and have amassed a large library sometimes soley based on the fact I was buying the movie for about the same price as a rental. To this day I have films in my collection I havent even seen yet.

RIP BlockBuster.

I did the exact same thing. Used DVD section of BlockBuster provided the best bang for your buck for movies. Like you as well....at least 20 movies I haven't watched yet that I own (on DVD). I have corrected my impulse buying with Blu-Rays lol.

Me, I'm a big fan and collector of vintage or retro video games. Atari, Colecovision, NES, I love the old stuff. A big part of the thrill is the hunt at garage sales or thrift stores and finding some gem out there and playing it for the first time.

At the moment I don't really collect anything. But I've collected pocket knives, hockey cards, bottle caps, teenage mutant ninja turtles cards :P, autographs, stamps, key fobs hmm probably something else too.

At the moment I don't really have any cool hobbies, other than following hockey, watching tv, playing computer games and writing songs.

If anyone has a cool looking ballcap from their work or school, feel free to fire it off my way.  I'd gladly send you my address for mailing it  ;)

Here's a copy of my fav golf cap I wear alot:

I like to cook.

Me too... I could spend hours of the day in the kitchen but it frustrates the heck out of my wife that meals don't always take 20 minutes to prepare. So, she winds up doing almost all of the cooking and sometimes, it's something I have to pretend to like.  :-\ Oh, and she's as picky as hell and I'll try anything once.

In fact, if I could do it all again, I might have gone to culinary school - I enjoy it that much... Cleaning up my mess on the other hand? Well, different story.
