Holzer demoted - Gardiner called up

The right move.

Yup, a little strange though given Kostka was the one to come out for Liles.

I know it's likely a waivers issue, but if there was the chance of Holzer being demoted I thought Kostka would have played ahead of him.

On the other hand there was talk of them making a change at D because one or two where banged up, perhaps Kostka is only now ready to return.

The most likely guy to replace him on the right side is....

....... gasp.....

KOMISAREK!!!!!

be careful what you wish for, peoples.

Komisarek would be an upgrade over how Holzer was playing.

Nothing could possibl'eye go wrong in that statement.

I'm assuming Gardiner isn't Holzer's replacement?

No one has been recalled yet, and it wouldn't surprise me if no one gets recalled for a few days. Having an empty roster spot can have its benefits.

Komisarek probably won't play so I won't have to answer for it.  ;)

The Marlies also have a game tonight, so it's possible that they want Gardiner to play in that and he'll be called up tomorrow.

Marlies plays tonight, so IF Gardiner is recalled, it will be tomorrow.

Also, Komisarek wasn't as bad as he was last year in those 4 games that he played this season.

Mark Masters tweeted that Dreger says the demotion is to make room for Gardiner.

Interesting times. If Gardiner is Holzer's replacement, than Rielly would most certainly be Gardiner's replacement on the Marlies. It would have been fun to see Gardiner and Rielly together on the Marlies power play first though.

That's a possibility, though, if he plays tonight, they might just wait until Thursday to officially recall him instead of having him play on back to back nights without getting a real practice with the Leafs under his belt.

Or, this could happen:

TSNBobMcKenzie: Jake Gardiner has been freed. Well, called up for AHL anyway.

This is good news. I really hope Eakins has helped Gardiner with his defensive game, and he sticks the rest of the way.
