Leafs buy out Mike Komisarek

Amnesty or regular?  I see nothing on TSN.

He has to be put on waivers before compliance right? So does this mean a regular buyout?

I take it that no trading partners were found and that the Leafs were exploring all opps.

Its a shame. He was given ample opportunity in past seasons....this season only 4 games.  They weren't horrible games either...but not great either.

I hope they put the cap space to good use. Weiss and/or Horton?

He has to be put on waivers for either buy out. But since he had a NMC he can bypass the waivers.

There's speculation that this move came after the Lecavalier decision because Philly and TO are talking trade.

I'm hoping it's something like Gunnarsson+ for <prospect like Couts>+<pricey but useful dman>

Unless the leafs get great deals on all their RFAs or buyout or trade liles too, they still dont have capspace for guys like Horton, Clarson, etc. I dont think.

I remember when he played for the Habs, he was one of the only players that could truly get under Mats Sundin's skin.  They had some great battles back in the day.  Playing with Markov aside, I don't know what happened to him.

Never a good thing to admit to.

The turning point seemed to be the shoulder injury from the fight with Lucic. He's never been the same player after that. Sometimes shoulders can't be fixed well enough.

He didn't play well for many games but I thought he handled himself pretty decently in the locker room and with the coaching staff under the circumstances.

Why buy him out unless they need cap space...

Hopefully they have a plan for the cap space.

You're right they must be close to making a move. Either free agent signing lined up or trade in the works where they take on salary to get something they want.
