Before the first game tonight I thought it would be fun if each of us posted a few predictions for the Leafs this season.

1. Andersen wins 40 or more games.
2. Matthews scores 50 goals.
3. Morgan Rielly smashes his single-season points record and puts up at least 45.
4. The Leafs earn 100 points or more

1. Leafs will win the cup. (against Edmonton).
2. Andersen wins 44 games.
3. Matthews scores 52 goals. Nylander and Marner have career highs
4. Polak is signed at some point, Marincin is traded

Ok, ok, MAYBE i'm too excited for this season! Go Leafs Go!!!

1. Matthews tops 50 goals
2. Gardiner tops 50 points
3. Leafs make it to the second round
4. Bozak and JVR stay with the team all season and playoffs

1. Mike Babcock uses the phrase "real gud pro" in separate interviews at least 10 times

The injury bug bites and sophomore slumps slump, with an across the board 5% reduction in all major stats, leaving us just missing the playoffs.

Then, with those hard lessons learned, we take the Cup in 2019.

1. Leafs get 100 points exactly in game 82
2. Matthews gets 49 goals
3. Marleau gets 15 goals and 38 points
4. Gardiner gets Norris votes

I love Gardiner but I can't see #4  I mean no first place votes from anyone if that's what you mean.

2017-2018
45+ wins (better s/o record, team defense)
Deep playoff run

2018-2019
Stanley Cup Champions

Some downers:
-Zaitsev doesn't crack 30 points
-Brown doesn't crack 12 goals
-The Leafs finish the season with a back-up not named McBackup or Sparks
-Carrick is traded or falls out of the top-6 on a permanent basis at some point

Positive notes:
-Andersen surpasses Raycroft/Belfour's single season wins record (37)
-Marleau has a rough start but comes alive in the second half of the season and still scores 20 goals
-Gardiner asserts himself as the teams number one defenceman
-No sophomore slumps for the big-3, all of them surpass last seasons point totals
