Music Legend Prince Dead at Age 57

I wasn't much of a fan of his but the guy had amazing talent. An extremely underrated guitar player..Even though he was around forever he always seemed to be in his 20's

The guy had an amazing talent, may he rest in peace.

In the interests of levity, a hilarious Kevin Smith story about Prince.

One of the most talented entertainers and songwriters of his generation. Also, inspiration for a fantastic Chappelle Show sketch - based on a true story, in fact.

He will be missed.

Damn that's such a bummer. Really one of the most talented guys to ever get into the music business even if, as that Kevin Smith clip shows, he was a bit of a nut.

For me, and I know it's weird given how great his own songs were, the memory that sticks out is the Rock and Roll HOF jam to honor George Harrison of While My Guitar Gently Weeps with Tom Petty and Steve Winwood and Jeff Lynne and George's son. Then Prince comes on for the solo and just tears the roof down. If you haven't seen the clip it's worth seeing.

That was well worth the 31 minutes to watch.

Heh, that was one of those clips that you figure, well, I'll watch a couple minutes, and then realize a half hour has passed. Quite the story. Thx for posting.

I'm glad you guys enjoyed it.

Like Kevin Smith's movies or not, his live Q&A's are almost always entertaining. He is not afraid to share things, his Tim Burton story and Bruce Willis stories being two other favorites.

Also, the press is running with a story today that Prince had thousands of songs stored in his vault, probably some music videos and a sweet documentary too. ;)

His story about the Superman movie he was working on is amazing - which, of course, is the lead up to the Tim Burton stuff.

Prince's vault has been the stuff of legends for a while now. The story is that he'd frequently record music videos at the compound that he never intended to release. When he wasn't touring, he was always recording something. There's probably some incredible stuff in there that he was still tinkering with.

The amazing thing about Prince is that the guy didn't just learn how to play a few instruments. He played all of them as if they were the only one he ever learned.

A phenomenal talent.

RIP and I can't wait to see what comes from the vault.
