Any guesses on how long Thornton's suspension will be?

Should be 40 games at least. I'd make an example of him and give him the season.

With Shanahan in charge? Anywhere between 0 and infinity.

I don't think it was the worst play in the world, but I really didn't like the knee that Neal gave to Marchand's face that led to the big scrum there either.  He had more than enough time to not skate directly into his face.

Video for anybody who hasn't seen it. The Neal hit is right at the beginning, and the Thornton incident occurs in the scrum afterward.

It's like these people learned absolutely nothing from what happened to Steve Moore. It's just bizarre.

well that Pit-Bos game turned out pretty ugly, they are right on Hot Stove, wrong guys are about to be penalized by Shanahan, more vicious things will go unnoticed, which results in players taking the justice in their own hands.

Why should Orpik fight Thornton for delivering a hit???  Why would he fight your best fighter for delivering a hit???  How exactly is that in Orpik's or the Penguin's best interest to have a skilled player fight a meathead???

You think the wrong guys to be penalized are Thornton and Neal? Who would you penalize?

PJ Stock is defending the Thornton incident. Get him off the CBC.

If Orpik was a man, he would have fought after throwing a clean hit earlier in the game.  Pathetic.

Seriously, I don't understand this garbage logic from the meatheads.  Clean plays = you deserve to get assaulted.  They need to start charging these fools for pulling this crap.

Is Neal going to be penalized, they sounded like he is not

Wow. In making an argument in favor of fighting (I think?), PJ Stock demonstrates the dangers of being routinely concussed.

While I in no way condone what Neal did I think if the refs and league would pay a little more attention to rats like Marchant and the crap they do every night this stuff would rarely occur.

It's amazing how these awful situations always end up being the goons who commit the worst acts.  Start fining the organization a massive amount of money when they pull this stuff.  Make it so it isn't financial viable for these idiots to be in the league.  (And spare me the "Thornton is a good guy" junk.  Good guys don't throw punches at a man when he is down on the ice)

Well, if guys plural are going to penalized I think he's the second, unless you had someone else in mind. Still, Thornton is absolutely a right guy to suspend here.
