Perron to PIT

DarrenDreger: Oilers trade Perron to the Penguins for a 1st round pick in 2015.

Good fit. Pens are decimated by injuries and need help on the wing. Oil get a late 1st in a good draft.

Just what Edmonton needed!  Seriously though.  They have the same inept scouting staff and have absolutely no track record outside of the top 10.  Getting 1st round picks is never a bad thing, especially when Perron isn't having a stellar year (Oilers effect I would assume).

They traded Magnus Paajarvi AND a 2nd round pick for Perron a year and a half ago.  Theyare essentially getting back the equivalent of a 2nd round pick in that 1st rounder most likely...especially if their defense gets healthy in time to get back into game shape for the playoffs.

It's a big circle game for Edmonton but this is a nice addition for Pittsburgh.

I don't know, a late first rounder and depth centre for a 26yr old with grit, who can play both left and right wing and almost hit 30/60 last year? What is another 1st rounder going to do for this club? I really think Edmonton could use an older, experienced forward with some leadership ability but maybe the idea is MacDavid or bust.

Exactly right. The 2nd they moved to St. Louis likely ends up a couple picks after the 1st rounder they just received so.......

Funny I had brought him up yesterday as a target for the Leafs. Too bad Nonis and CO weren't interested.

From the return it seems as if it wouldn't have taken much to land him.

Perron with a goal in his first game. I really think he could have a Kunitz-like effect playing with Crosby. Very smart player.
