Game Notes

NSH
?Saros (7-4-1, 2.17 GAA, .927 Sv%) will likely start for the Predators
?Matt Duchene is finally playing like a $8mil AAV player, starting the season with 9 goals and 16 points in 15 games
?Nashville, like the Leafs, are in the midst of a hot streak after starting the season slowly. They are 8-1-1 in their last 10 games after going 1-4-0 in their first 5

TOR
?Campbell (8-3-1, 1.82 GAA, .939 Sv%) will likely start for the Leafs
?Matthews and Marner were re-united at practice on Monday, giving the Ritchie-Matthews-Marner line from the start of the season another chance
?Liljegren will be a healthy scratch for the first time in a month after playing in 10 straight games. He likely won't be sitting for long as Keefe wants to keep a regular rotation on the blue line

?Alexandre Carrier - Upper Body - Questionable
?Nick Cousins - Upper Body - Injured Reserve
?Filip Forsberg - Upper Body - Injured Reserve
Code:

?Ilya Mikheyev - Thumb - Injured Reserve

I don?t dislike the line changes given that the regular season doesn?t matter for results.  If the Leafs start losing games while fiddling they need to stop it but if they are running a good pace finding out optimal combinations or getting guys some chemistry in case of late season injuries is good.  That being said I hope that the reward train stops giving Ritchie a free pass every time he has a modestly ok game.  He really hasn?t been good and he?s getting opportunities other players havent

Any thoughts on the backup goalie?

I?m really hoping they try splitting the offense over 3 lines rather than two some time before the playoffs to try it out?(because in the playoff it always seems as if one line can be shut down ? it would be nice to have two non-shutdown lines rather than one, which hasn?t ever been enough).

When Tavares has been out, Nylander Kerfoot have been pretty good together.

I don't know what the stats say but to my eyeballs Kerfoot is uplifting his lines, modestly.

I'd like to see them try Kallgren next time round. Statistically he's streets ahead of Woll, allowing for the small sample size (for Kallgren, plenty of sample size on Woll).

That's probably more for the next start when Campbell has a night off, rather than who's sitting on the bench as backup

Yeah. My guess is they're just trying to ignite Ritchie's offensive game a little so he gains some much needed confidence and hopefully contributes more to his new team.

Add another 0.1M to Jack's paycheck.

EDIT: On the replay it looks like he didn't really get any of it.

Give up a bad 2 on 1 in the first minute.  Don?t get the call on a wide open chance stopped by a slash on the hands

Nashville doing a lot of hooking and holding to slow the Leafs down.

And they just got an icing call by interfering with the dump in.
