Expect a pretty barebones squad in Quebec City tonight from both teams after they each iced basically a NHL roster on Monday. This was the Leafs line-up at their first practice yesterday:

Martin-Aaltonen-Brown
Rychel-Mueller-Kapanen
Johnsson-Greening-Soshnikov
Lindberg-Smith-Grundstrom

Marincin-Carrick
Rosen-Holl
Valiev-Polak
Paliotta-LoVerde

McBackup/Sparks

With that said, Polak is confirmed to be out and Babcock said that Moore and Fehr will both play (Leivo lined up on their left wing during practice #2 so reasonable to think he might play as well).

Hard to imagine Kapanen on the Marlies. I am sure when you throw injuries into the equation he will be up more often then not.

Top 5 Things I like least about Montreal:

5. The smoking
4. The behaviour of pedestrians
3. Being possessive about dumping cheese and gravy on french fries
2. Being possessive about a sort of ok kind of sliced meat sandwich
1. The hockey team and everything about it

No indication on the lines online yet, or which of the two forwards won't dress (Timashov is probably one of them).  I wouldn't expect LoVerde and Paliotta to dress so our pairings are something like:

Rosen - Carrick
Dermott - Borgman
Marincin - Holl

Lines at morning skate:

Leivo-Aaltonen-Brown
Rychel-Moore-Kapanen
Greening-Smith-Grundstrom
Johnsson-Fehr-Soshnikov

Borgman-Carrick
Rosen-Dermott
Marincin-Holl
Paliotta-LoVerde

Marincin is done like dinner. Looks like his stock is falling. I hope Kapanen scores five and Rosen is fantastic.

Is Carrick an absolute lock?

Is Carrick a lock for the roster?  Yes.  Is he a lock for a spot in the Top 6- not necessarily.  Dermott or Borgman could play on the right side and take his spot in the lineup to start the year.

Carrick being a natural right-sided player makes him pretty much a lock in the bottom pair.

Marincin is probably a lock to be the #7, he'd likely have been waived by now otherwise.

Several guys are ahead of him contending for the #6 spot and none of these guys will be kept as the #7 for an extended period when they could be getting big minutes with the Marlies.

The Habs are icing a quasi-NHL line-up:

Pacioretty-Drouin-Gallagher
Galchenyuk-McCarron-Shaw
Terry-De La Rose-Mitchell
Carr-Holland-Froese

Mete-Weber
Streit-Gelinas
Davidson-Morrow

Price
Fucale

Borgman needs time in the AHL, he gets sucked towards the puck and out of position very easily, it's part positioning and partly from being overly aggressive looking for the hit.

Goaltending is a position of "Not Great Depth" for the Maple Leafs says Ray Ferraro, who says true things.

That clip of Kariya and the interview is terrifying.

Here is the full interview;

Thanks.

Side note, I guess, but I will never be convinced that Scott Stevens didn't go out of his way to hurt guys.

Scott Stevens definitely went out of his way to hurt guys. Did he go out there trying to end people's careers... probably not.

Eh. He saw what happened with Lindros and Kariya and I don't think he changed it up at all.
