Raffi Torres suspended 41 games

"Torres has been warned, fined or suspended on nine occasions -- the majority of which have involved a head shot."

Chris Johnston posted that on Twitter, assuming it's taken from the video.  Ridiculous, why is he still in the league?

About time the league really threw the book at someone for something like this. That was an unnecessary, predatory hit.

Unfortunately, I doubt this suspension will withstand an appeal. I really hope I'm wrong, though.

Yeah, it's from the video. 5 suspensions, 3 fines, 2 warnings.

edit: which adds up to 10, er, let me check that again

edit 2: So this one is his 5th suspension.

Not quite:

Raffi Torres will forfeit $440,860.29 in salary for his 41-game suspension.

Since he's at $2mil, about a 50% pay cut, so he's forfeiting about a million bucks.

Good. Have to get this stuff out of hockey. I'm not sure how someone can have such a blatant disregard for his colleagues safety.

Yeah, good. I don't buy interference at all but hit to the head and charging all day long. Next step should be a year or out.

Why don't you buy the interference part? The video replay clearly shows Silfverberg lost possession of the puck about a full second prior to Torres hitting him. He could have let up, instead he went head-hunting (again).

If this clown doesn't get the message now then the next step is to ban him from the league entirely.

The video said .8 seconds and my eyes told me he was still in the play, he was stripped of the puck but still involved. If he'd been legally checked I doubt that penalty would have been called.

I had those exact thoughts, Tigger. Clean check and there's no way they're calling that interference.

This guy's been a punk forever.  To be honest, I totally forgot he was still on a NHL team.  Good riddance.

About time.  The idiot Torres is a multiple repeat offender.  Glad to hear it being a lengthy suspension without pay.
