A group of NHLers are playing in a charity game tonight at Ryerson University?s Mattamy Athletic Centre (former Maple Leafs Gardens). The game will be streamed online at http://new.livestream.com/nhlpa/rbc.

A bunch of Leafs are playing in the game so I thought it might be interesting to watch. Komisarek, Phaneuf, Connolly, MacArthur, Steckel, Liles, Kessel, Lombardi, Lupul, and McClement will all suit up. Former Leafs who are playing are Versteeg, Gustavsson, Colaiacovo, Kaberle, and Johnny Malkin. You can view the full rosters here: http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/live_video_rbc_play_hockey_charity_challenge_subban_stamkos/.

Did anyone watch?  From the score it was obviously a game of pond hockey.

I watched the first period, it was pretty much what you'd expect from something like this. They did a shootout between the first and second periods and the goals scored there were counted in the official score. Not sure if they did it during the second intermission as well, but that partly explains the high goal totals.

It had the 'intensity' of a pre-season game, no checking; only thing missing was a guy dropping the gloves to save his job.  :)

The story was more re: Fehr's comments before the game, and also the player's frustrations. Here's a recap:
