Reimer and Morin to Sharks for Stalock, Smith and conditional 4th

Probably inevitable but sad to see him go. I hope he does well in San Jose.

So who knows what about the players coming back?

I'm sad to see him go; he was one of my favorite players on the team. Anyone know anything about Stalock?

So absolutely nothing for Reimer.  A F***ing 4th really

Yeah, not a whole lot of return especially considering Morin had a bit of potential.  Maybe Leafs felt bad for fleecing the two 2nds off them earlier this week?

Mediocre backup, pending UFA. Not a great return, overall. Basically take on a pair of expiring contracts, and ship out Reimer and Morin to get a pick in 2018. I had hoped the Leafs would be able to get a better return on Reimer, but, I guess the goalie market just wasn't that strong.

DarrenDreger: Need some clarification, but the conditional pick is believed to become a 3rd round pick in 2018 if SC advance to Stanley Cup Finals.

So an awful trade for us then.

First trade that my response has been WTF.  Is this to bolster the Marlies so the young guys can come up?  I would have much rather kept Reimer and tried to sign him.

Something big better be happen or else LOU screwed the pooch on this one

A lot of trades are contract for contract these days because teams all hover around that 50 mark.

They could simply acquire bodies for nothing for the Marlies if they were really wanting that.

You think they were turning down first round picks for him?

You have to assume that this was as good of a return that they could get, given the market.

Lousy market for goaltenders, but not Lou's fault.  I'm disappointed, terrible return, but I'm not blaming the Leafs.

EDIT:  Having said that, I'm wondering if they turned down any offers earlier in the season for him?  This is a garbage return for a serviceable NHL goalie, so market must be super soft right now.

They thought Morin might have something, took a look in the AHL and decided he didn't. They talked to Reimer, he wanted to get paid more than they thought he was worth next year, so see ya Jimmy.

Both go for another draft pick, am I delighted with the return? Not especially, but I'm sure it was the best return out there given what we've seen them get for other pieces already.

So basically it's staying a 4th, I don't put much into the Sharks not choking in the playoffs, especially when they'd have to beat 2 or 3 of the Hawks, Ducks or Kings to make it to the SC finals.

It's not a great return but let's be real. We were trading a pending UFA goalie who was almost certainly going to be a back-up on whatever contending team was trading for him. If we're on the other end of that trade, what would we want to give up?
