Ron Hextall to be new Flyers GM

#Flyers have called a press conference for 11:30am to promote Ron Hextall to GM and Paul Holmgren to president.

I have no idea how good a GM he is going to be. From reports he was a great assistant GM in LA and did win a Cup. Maybe he could bring Richards and Carter back to the Flyers, but I digress.

But moreover, it is really fun to have your favourite childhood player become the GM of your favourite team. Being a Flyers fan, I am used to this all ending badly but I at least have the summer to enjoy it.

When Hextall went back to Philly last summer I'm sure that there were assurances he would be named GM within a year or two, so this was expected. I wouldn't be surprised if he was basically running the show this past season with Holmgren just looking on.

Well, if he's responsible for the Andrew MacDonald contract, then nothing has really changed in Philly.
