Enjoy watching the hard-hitting and high-flying Capitals thrashing the Flyers.  Ovechkin & co. did exactly what they had to do.

I see no hope for Philly.  Perhaps if goaltender Steve Mason stands on his head, they may take one game at home.

Unless Flyer fans have other ideas, they should get used to it.

Flyer fans  ::)

Flyer management double  ::) for doing a giveaway of hurlable objects

It's just as well Ed Snider is isn't alive to see this slaughter.

Honestly, who's the genius who thought giving Philadelphia hockey fans white bracelets was a smart idea? Even if the team was winning, some of those were going to end up on the ice. At least make them orange or something. They're lucky they found all of them/none of the players stepped on one.

Just seems like an incredibly strange marketing/promotional idea.

And now the Rangers are giving away light-up bracelets tonight.

These seem to actually be a little more popular than I thought, we just haven't heard about them before because no one else has used them as weapons. But they've often been handed out at concerts, and other NHL teams have used them before. The Rangers in particular actually used them in the playoffs last year too.

IMHO, it's incredibly stupid for hockey organizations to give out anything that can be tossed on the ice.

I agree with the concept of giving out free stuff as a promotion, however, it should be kept to things that can't be easily thrown on the ice.

Scott Laughton looks seriously hurt in Philly:

Seems like a back/neck injury. Taking him off with a stretcher now.

Flyers win 2-1.  Capitals lead series 3 games to1.

Obviously, a goaltending change made a difference for the Flyers, as Michal Neuvirth started in place of Steve Mason, and stopped 32 shots on route to his team's win.

A key piece for the Flyers in this Game 4 was discipline, as in staying out of the penalty box, something they had trouble doing for most of this series.

And, oh yeah, no debris was thrown on the ice by frustrated and irate (& idiotic) Philly fans.  Nothing but cheers by the home crowd greeted the victory.  A relief indeed.

Game 5 goes Friday in Washington.

Philadelphia 2  Washington 0.  Capitals lead series 3 games to 2.

It's back to Philly for Game 6 Sunday!

These Philadelphia Flyers aren't ready to fold in this post-season just yet.  Surely not Flyers goaltender Michal Neuvirlh (a former Capital, by the way), who stopped all 44 shots directed at him and then some, en route to backstopping his team to victory in Game 5.

What makes this Game 5 win all the more amazing is that it was the largest gap in shots on goal between two teams -- with Washington outshooting Philadelphia 44-11 -- since 1998 when the then Capitals also won by the paltry sum of 11 SOG in a playoff game over the Ottawa Senators of the time.

Not since 1989-1990 has there been such a disparity in SOG  in a playoff game.

Add to all of this the 82 shot attempts (not to be confused with shots on goal) by the Capitals, and one can see not only who the better playing team was but also the value of Neuvirth in the Flyers net.

The Flyer players had earlier attended an emotional memorial service for the late Philadelphia owner Ed Snider.

Still, pointing to this  game, one can say, lucky, lucky Philly.

Game 6 goes Sunday in Philadelphia.
