And Orr, if McKegg is in for Holland.

Yeah I imagine McKegg is in for Holland and McLaren in for Ashton, so:

JVR-Bozak-Kessel
Lupul-Kadri-Kulemin
Raymond-McKegg-Bodie
McLaren-McClement-Orr

question, oh mighty GDT maker?

wth is 'lace bite'?

I'm not CTB, but lace bite is a common injury in skating.  Basically it's what you get when your skates are too tight around the front of the foot and ankle: the pressure eventually damages the tendons that lift the foot.  The name implies that it's the fault of the laces being too tight (they "bite" into your leg) but it's really a skate fitting problem.

Wouldn't their equipment be specially made?  I use to make orthopaedic braces before.  It wouldn't be hard.  Skates should be custom?

Hmm, that would mean McLaren likely has to play.

Or, the team could do the smarter thing and play 7 defencemen . . . but, who am I kidding? McLaren and Orr on the 4th line it is!

I keep forgetting that's even allowed.

Well McLaren is there to skate awkwardly while Orr is there to show Blue Steel to Chris Neil.

For guys that are more established in the league, sure, but for someone like Holland, who only recently started earning NHL dollars on a regular basis, not necessarily.

I've had lacebite several times over the years. In every instance, it was from the upper laces holes being too tight, while the bottom were slightly looser. It wasn't a skate fitting properly problem, it was me not paying attention to detail.

It's a funny injury. In some cases you can walk around in your shoes and not even experience any discomfort, but as soon as you start skating, watch out. At first, you think "I can power through this" and then soon after you are hobbling around watching people skate around you. It takes awhile for it to go away too. 2-3 weeks.

It's frustrating because it's minor discomfort, but there isn't really anything you can do.

Not sure what is up with Holland if he is on crutches.

He is:

Holland's foot is so swollen that he can't put weight on it; he's actually on crutches; Carlyle calls lace-bite injury "crazy"

I've been reading and hearing that the crutches are to make sure it heals even faster than normal. Apparently if you but the foot into a boot that stops you from being able to bend it, you heal much faster as the tendons have ample time to heal properly.

Colton Orr hasn't been a minus player in his last 10 games.  He's now been averaging .21 goals against per game.  Jerry D'Amigo and Jerred Smithson have less ice-time and been on for more goals against, less goals for.  Orr's salary is only $55,000 more then D'Amigo's. A point-a-game Marlie doesn't necessarily do better then Orr at the NHL level.  Remember what happened when the Leaf's toughest guy was Mark Osborne and other teams were running around with guys like Link Gaetz?  You sometimes need someone to take on useless pukes like Chris Neil.  Detroit has Brendan Smith. :p

Orr can't even skate.  At this point, there is nothing positive about Orr.

And of course the Habs/Tampa game goes to OT.
