No. I don't think he was ever really expected to much more than a good 3rd liner/okay 2nd liner. There was some thought Sekac could be when he signed this summer, but, that was probably just the hype machine.

He was basically the typical grinder who gets overhyped when he plays for Canada at the World Juniors. He's made a NHL career for himself so that's better than some of those guys though.

A pretty interesting trade for both sides. I could see Sekac getting a look with Getzlaf and Perry, who knows what happens then.

The way the HNIC crew called Habs games, I thought Montreal loved Sekac and that he was regarded as an amazing find with a bright future by all sane people in hockey.

I think Habs fans were pretty happy with Sekac actually, it's just Therrien had absolutely no trust in him.

Maybe the habs want to get a little more grindy for a playoff run.

That's basically it. Sekac primarily played on their 3rd line with Prust and Eller, a role that doesn't really suit him. DSP will fill that role better, but Anaheim probably gets the better player back in return.

Exactly.  I like the trade for Montreal's playoff run and he's a young guy that could be effective on their 3rd line for a long time.  Good luck to Sekac too.  He looked pretty flashy early on and you could really see the potential.
