Stamkos Injury

Haven't seen any details, but Dave Hodge tweeted that Stamkos has been injured. The stretcher is coming out.

Looks like he crashed into his own net leg first, HFboards posters are saying it looks like he may have broke his leg.

ow. ow ow ow OW?.. oh egadssss?.that Stamkos injury is stomach turning. i wish I hadn't seen the 'highlight'. That leg's broken. Maybe in more than one place. And he may have damaged the knee too.

I'm in agony just watching it.

Anything that increases the odds of Chris Kunitz being on Team Canada makes me sad.

So no Stamkos. Giroux looks like he's playing himself off the team. And who knows what Rick Nash's situation will be. I know we have plenty of depth, but you could have made the case that those were our three best wingers before the season started.

I hoped he beats Crosby for the Art Ross this year, oh well
I guess Tampa surprising surge stops right here...
Also huge loss for team Canada in Sochi...
Wishing him fast recovery

That's at least 3 months.

Yeah. 3 to 6 months is what seems to be what most medical websites seem to be suggesting. Considering this injury reported requires surgery to repair, it wouldn't surprise me if it's closer to 6 months than it is to 3. His season could very well be done, unfortunately.

Anyone know if he can still be named to Team Canada and then replaced come Olympic time if he hasn't recovered?

I think the deadline for actually naming the final team is like a week before the Olympics start, so, they'll have a pretty good idea about whether or not there's any chance he'll be able to play when they make those final decisions. It likely won't be an issue.

I believe that is possible.

Yeah, it definitely is. They came close in 2010 to replacing Ryan Getzlaf with Jeff Carter, because he was injured a few days before.

Just wondering to anyone watching the game, was there a penalty called on that?

Also weren't Aulie and Salo hurt in the second period as well? Any report on those?

I suppose I meant more whether or not there were rules about naming an already injured player to the team in the hopes he'd be ready rather than just whether or not injury replacements can be named.

Yeah you're right, and I think the question becomes, if Hockey Canada does name him to their roster and he can't play, does that mean they go to Sochi a man down?
