3 years, $4.1mil cap hit.

Some information about Mason:

Fear The Fin ‏@fearthefin 8m
Mason is 44th among 55 active goalies in career SV%. Everyone behind him is a backup, in Europe, or Ondrej Pavelec?

Corey Sznajder ‏@ShutdownLine 7m
Mason in Oct/Nov: 19 GP, .938 save percentage. Dec/Jan: 17 GP, .895 save percentage.

Philly and goalies man.

"He was really good for a couple months there, and now he's playing to our expected standard of goaltending. Let's lock him up for a few seasons. Give him $4M or so a season. That's about right for poor quality goaltending that is getting bailed out by our offence, right?"

It's actually a good signing. He has played pretty solid this season going back to the end of last season considering they have horrible defence. He has been the best player on the team and they wouldn't have a sniff at a playoff spot if it weren't for him.

does this mean Reimer gets 4mil?

Will he still be a leaf next season at these prices?

The sub .900 Sv% he's posted over the last month and a half tells a very different story.

Yeah a couple bad games can do that for you. Even great goalies have slumps you know that. If we want to talk about bad signing we could talk about David Clarkson.

Still pretty reasonable low-end starter range. If his game goes to hell it's not killing the cap. And there is no NTC/NMC.
It's not really bad at all.
Since Nov 4
17-4-5
.917 save%
2.48GAA

EDIT: Also, career .906 Sv% and 2.82 GAA.

Sure, except no one is arguing Clarkson's contract is anything but a bad one.

Mason was pulled again today. He's played 3 games since the extension and was pulled in 2 of them. Pulled in 3 of his last 6 starts.

.913 SV% on the season now.  .907 SV% over his last 30 starts.  That would have him sitting around 35th in the league in SV%.
