Trade deadline

So guys the NHL trade deadline is coming up on Wednesday at 3pm.  What do you guys think the Leafs are going to do?  They have $15 million in cap space apparently.  That would give them room for multiple high priced rentals, plus they do have the prospect capital to get some deals done.  I'm on the fence on this one.  I actually think they have a legitimate shot of doing some damage in the playoffs.  I wouldn't be surprised to see them win round one and there is always a chance that they could even go further than that.  I look at what happened in Edmonton when they traded for some defense and I really see an opportunity here for the Leafs at the right price.

The rumor right now is that they are talking to Detroit about a couple of guys who are under-performing, but played well under Babcock.  We will see what happens.  I have complete faith in the management team at this point.

Parayko St Louis

Give then whatever they want pick 3 or 4 or 5
JVR/Bozak/Soshnikov/Leivo/Gauthier/Neilsen/
Leipsic/Kapanen/Polak/Hunwick/Marincin/Marchenko
Dermott/Rychel/Sparks/Bibeau

we can even take bad or expiring contracts
Yakupov Upshall Perron Gunnarrson

What if the Leafs trade Komarov, Bozak, and Van Riemsdyk for even more prospects?  Just load up on even more kids.  I really like all three of those players, but really then they would be going "all in" on the rebuild.  Otherwise they're going to be trading their prospects to load up on rentals.  I'm kind of torn between which is the better option.  I think if they could get a good haul for the three players I mentioned, they should do that.  The Leafs have been burned too many times already trying to make a cup run when they had no business doing so.  Their time will come.  It's just not going to be this year, no matter how good Matthews and Marner are playing.

With the Leafs in a playoff hunt, Bozak and JvR are most likely summer moves now. Komarov could be moved, though. The team has potential internal replacements for him that could step in now and the team likely wouldn't see much - if any - change in success. Same with guys like Polak and Hunwick - there are internal options or potential trade options that would require sending out less assets than moving them would bring in.

In terms of straight additions, other than looking for an upgrade on Smith, I don't think the Leafs do anything.

Any of those players, but not one or more of Nylander / Marner's / Matthews. Why would the Blues want to trade Parayko?

They might want to trade a 23 year old when they are as close as they are with that veteran group.  JVR/Bozak/Komarov could help them so who knows. Burns got traded.

But they're not particularly close. They're barely in the playoffs and Parayko is contributing in the here and now. With trading Shattenkirk seeming pretty likely that would blow a hole in their defense that seems unlikely to be outweighed by any forwards the Leafs could offer.

Lupul is reported to star as Samuel Jacksons character in the remake of Unbreakable

haha he WAS Mr. Glass wasn't he? Tough career, he had little runs of a clear top nine guy, then he'd be out.
