Which team would you most like to see draft Connor McDavid (besides the Leafs)?

Some lucky team is going to get a true franchise player next draft.  We all know that some teams are way more likely than others to get the #1 pick next year, and for almost every one of them, I can't help but feel jealous and have a variety of feelings about why they don't deserve it - divisional/conference rivals, bad management, bad fanbase, etc.  And yet of course the teams that are successful enough to not be in the running for the #1 pick also don't deserve it, but for entirely different reasons.  I'm hard pressed to come up with the team, besides the Leafs, that I'd be most satisfied (or least dissatisfied) with getting McDavid.

So, while completely disregarding the likelihood or the impossibility of it happening, what team or teams would you be most okay with having the good fortune to draft Connor McDavid?

Personally I'd like to see either Florida or Phoenix get him. He'll either greatly help those two teams get a fanbase or he'll get sick of playing there and demand a trade to the Leafs after a few seasons.

Those two might not be bottom-3 teams, so they'll have to get a bit of luck via the lottery.

I know it would mean that we'll see him for years to come but these years of futility as a Leafs fan has given me a lot of sympathy for teams and cities in similar situations and I really think Buffalo could use a win on the sports scene. I think they're a good fanbase and a put-upon city so I think they deserve it.

And, as to what Carlton spoke to, I think there's a much bigger chance he gets sick of Buffalo than Phoenix or Miami(or Seattle).

Winnipeg, anybody?  Canadian team, not so likely to retain him forever, hard to imagine as a conference powerhouse, not a free agent destination.

Calgary, just to see Burke's hair finish him off.

Winnipeg or Florida would be cool, so would Nashville or Arizona.

I don't really know.

That's kind of what I was thinking, too. If the Leafs don't get him, why would I like seeing another NHL team have him? I'm sure I'd enjoy watching him play, but, really, my preference in terms of who gets him is, in order: The Leafs, a team in the West that isn't Vancouver or Edmonton, teams in the East that aren't in the Leafs' division. Full stop. Anyone other than the Leafs would be met with begrudging acceptance, really.

I still like this answer best.

Looking now at the options:

LA: Please no.
DAL: McDavid-Seguin-Spezza? That'd be pretty dominant, maybe a little too dominant for my liking, but I've always had a bit of a soft-spot for Dallas from their Modano days so I wouldn't hate it.
SJ: Again, please no. I don't want to see a dominant team that is finally starting to maybe show signs of cracking get lucky like this.
COL: McDavid-MacKinnon-Duchene? That's like the Dallas option, but I dislike Colorado so I don't want them to have nice things. It could possibly make O'Reilly a little more available though...
EDM: Nope.
ARI: They were one of my picks earlier in the season, I like the idea of McDavid "saving" a franchise like Crosby did, whether it be Arizona or wherever they end up moving to.

OTT/PIT/BOS - Different reasons for hard-no's here, but all fairly obvious.
FLA - Along with Arizona, they were my other McDavid pick earlier. They're in our division though which obviously isn't really ideal.
CBJ - They finished as arguably the hottest team in the league despite missing the playoffs by quite a bit. Obviously a lot of their early struggles were due to injuries, but I wouldn't mind seeing the anti-Buffalo win the lottery.
PHI - *pukes*
NJ - Kind of in the LA/SJ territory, they lose one franchise player in Brodeur only to replace him with another franchise player? I'd hope not.
CAR - Seeing the confused looks on some peoples faces here as they realize that maybe they should have been cheering for the Leafs to win some more games late in the season because then they would have been in the 5th spot/inevitable lottery winner spot would be pretty priceless.
TOR - Yes please.
BUF - Please no.

Heck no to Arizona.  McDavid would be wasted there.

I can live with Buffalo getting him.

Carolina or New Jersey...whatever.

No thanks to anyone else.

Come home Connor!

Seems pretty unlikely that he'd be "wasted" there. Either he'd go a long ways towards saving a franchise that seems pretty certain to move or he'd be the star player on a team in a new market.
