For me it would come down to if I could afford it in my budget which I could never.. But if I could and it wouldn't  affect the paying of more important bills I would renew..In a few years if the plan is followed they will be an exciting team to watch and once again tickets will be at a premium..

If I could afford it, I would never let my seats go.  The Leafs will once again be competitive and the seats will once again be the hottest ticket in town.

I would expect that a season ticket holder can make their money back by selling seats to games they cannot attend especially with a competitive team

Of course this is a lot easier to say when I'm not clicking a renew button that will cost me $10g's  ;D

I'm actually reasonably excited about next year. A rebuilding young team won't win a lot but they won't be this trainwreck of half-assedness. If it's just that you don't want to watch a bad team, than, yeah next year might not be for you but I'm probably more enthusiastic about next year than I was about this year before it began.

If I had season tickets and could afford them year over year, no way would I ever give them up.

Ironically enough though, I always desired to be a season ticket holder, but in recent years that has changed and I never plan to put my name on the list to become one.

Buy low, sell high. I think, if I lived closer to Toronto, I'd consider it. It should be very interesting to watch this team develop over the next few years. It may take a while, or it may surprise everyone how quickly they turn things around. What if, for instance, they do win the lottery this year? That could potentially face track the rebuild, and McDavid would certianly add some excitement to the fan base.

If I lived in T.O and had the dough.  Ya would love to have seasons tickets again.
My Dad had company tickets back in the 60-70's at the Gardens.

Season tickets were never something I'd be able to do, but yeah I mean I couldn't imagine giving them up if I was able to actually use them. I said this in the other thread, but if you stuck by the team in the past 10 years where they sucked trying to be good, I can't possibly imagine why you'd have an issue with what they're trying to do now.

My wife's aunt worked for a very rich business/owner.  Private jet, limo, 30,000 square foot home.  They gave up the season tickets because they weren't worth it.  Clients weren't impressed.

Personally I wouldn't want the tickets at the best of times.  But Toronto is a pretty boring place filled with concrete and asphalt.  Have to find some entertainment there right?  If you are going to follow them no matter what, can afford them, enjoy them, renew.

I originally became a subscriber in 1988 at which point the team was in a similar state as they are today (I went to the box office to ask what I had to do to get season tickets they asked where I wanted to sit as there was availability in all sections)

As today is the deadline for season ticket holders to renew their seats for the 2015-16 season I thought it might be interesting to discuss what some here would do.
For those of you here who are subscribers, will you be renewing? For those that are not, would you if you had season tickets? Will anyone take advantage of what will probably be available season seats and become a subscriber?

I have another 13 hours to make my decision...and believe me, I am struggling to hit the renew button.  :-\

So...did you renew?

Well, did you?

Wow, no matter how bad this team gets, there'll always be die hard fans forking over their money for such an inferior product.  Only in Toronto!

The same is true for every sports team in the world. Look at the Cubs, Knicks or Browns. They're not playing to empty stadiums.

Do you own a jersey? Anything with a Leaf logo on it? Tune into their broadcasts? If so, you are also "forking over your money" in a different way.
To each their own. There is more to being a fan than current state. I was also "forking over my money" at the times when they were racking up lots of wins/points (since 1988 in fact) and have had great enjoyment from going to games with friends and family.
You can't put a price on the many precious moments I have shared at Leaf games with my daughter for example - win or lose, it's kind of a family tradition to cheer on our team from our seats.
Like I said, to each their own

I own pretty much a room full of Leafs gear. Will I continue to buy? Of course. This is what we do.

Yes - it is what we do lol

There are probably about a dozen members of this site that have sat in my seats over the years (from Toronto and across the globe when they come to town) - one of the nice things is to be able to allow others to share the experience without selling their first born to a scalper lol.

The benefits of having tickets have far outweighed the sting of what is at times a bad team.

Seems to me they've been bad more than just at times!  ;)

Usually the people who say "just stop going to the games", are people who never had tickets to begin with.  Like most people I bought tickets to a few games back in October...that's how most tickets are sold other than e handfuls that are sold closer to the game.  I'm not going to forfeit them to prove a point...

Then why are you here on this forum? Stop being a fan.
