One less record for Crosby;

James Mirtle ‏@mirtle
Avs name Landeskog captain. Youngest captain in league history.

I've always really hated the idea of naming a really young captain, regardless of his considerable talent.

Of course, Crosby's done pretty well as a captain, so what do I know?

For a top-draft pick, he showcased his talents quite nicely racking up 52 pts. with the club while sporting a +20 rating.  His raw leadership and talent, coupled with his style of play (knows how to be a 'pest' on ice) and the fact that he was one of the Avs best young players to date, probably were all factors in granting him the captaincy.

His leadership will no doubt rub off on his teammates.

"He's going to be, in my mind, the franchise player for a long time. He's young, but he's got a good head on his shoulders. I think the organization is in good hands."
- Colorado's Milan Hejduk on Gabriel Landeskog, who became the new Avalanche captain and the youngest C-bearer in NHL history.

Has anything come to pass with respect to Visnovsky's grievance?

His arbitration hearing was yesterday, so I'd imagine a decision will be made soon.

Thanks, I'm really interested in this case.

Vishnovsky trade from Ducks to Islanders deemed valid. There was issue raised with no-move clause, etc when trade was agreed on.

Surprise! Doan has decided to remain a Coyote.

4 yrs @$21.1M.

"I'm extremely excited about remaining a Coyote," Doan said in a statement. "I was drafted by this organization and it means a great deal to me to be able to play with the same franchise my entire career. I'm very excited about our team, our coaching staff and our management and am confident about our future in Arizona.

"I chose to stay with the Coyotes because I am committed to winning here, not anywhere else, and I love living and playing in the Valley. This is my home and this is my team."
