5.6 million a year for Wheeler? I might not be too familiar with his game recently, but that seems high for his game. Is he even as good as Little? Wow.

It surprised me too but he had 41 points in 48 games this year and this buys a bunch of UFA years. Since being dealt to the ThrasherJets he's scored at a .81 PPG pace which works out to 66 points per 82 games so....actually kind of reasonable.

I don't care about the Jets salary cap, but for their sake, I hope he maintains that pace. I kind of thought salaries would have gone down this season, I guess I was wrong. Kadri and Franson may not get the show-me contracts I think they should.

The Jets? What about us?  Wheeler is getting barely more than Clarkson ... for almost double the ppg production ...

All but 1 one of those 6 years were UFA years IIRC, and that contract will essentially take him through his prime.

I don't disagree though, that's A LOT of money. They must have felt it was only gonna get worse as he got closer to UFA to make that deal. Zero hometown discount.

I don't like them as comparables and I don't want to debate Clarkson vs. Wheeler, but I will say this.... Phil Kessel is going to get paaaaaaaaiiiiiid!

Looks like the Jets are locking up their big guns. They extended Zach Bogosian for 7 years, $36 million.

If he keeps developing the way he has that could turn out to be a really good deal. It still only takes him until he's 30.

Yeah it's not bad. Probably one of those deals that starts out a bit higher than what he's worth but ends up becoming a bargain midway through, or near the end.

The Florida Panthers are looking like the heavy hitters of the new Atlantic Division.

They signed Scott Gomez to a 1 year deal.

Sorry, wasn't meant to be serious in any way, shape or form.
