Lindros, in comparison to a ton of guys who had longer careers, was legitimately the best player in the world for a while. To me, that separates him from the guys who could make a claim that, absent their injuries, they would have had HOF numbers.
Oh, I agree the Lindros probably deserves to be in the HHoF. I just don't think a couple of other poor choices provide any kind of compelling evidence other than the induction committee has a history of making poor decisions.
No, I agree. The argument should never be "He was better than the worst guy who got in so he should go in" because that means that the institution is forever bound by their worst selection. The argument, and I think Lindros qualifies here, is whether or not he's better than most of the guys in the Hall.
