LOL@refs, game misconduct for Edler, I could buy a 2 min penalty for tripping or kneeling, but 5 minute and a game misconduct, it wasn't even intentional. Really stupid.

Edit: Apparently and intentional knee hit that leads to an injury results it an automatic game misconduct and 5 minute penalty. Didn't see it as intentional though.

Are you crazy?
Nope, this was however intentional:

It's around 48 seconds or so:

I can't say that it's clear to me, but Edler doesn't look like he goes for a hit, and he doesn't look as if he tries to avoid the knee.

Based on those two things it's either intentional or he made decisions that led to a very unsafe situation where it hardly matters what he intended.

I accept the desicion although I think it's wrong, as far as I'm concerned he didn't go for the knee, and he wasn't trying to hit him either, I think it was just a matter of him not having full control where Staal was. I could call it clumsy. But I don't think Edler was out to hit Staal like that. Other than that I hope that Staal will recover as soon as possible.

What's interesting is that it looks as if Edler is making a small move to the left, perhaps to try to avoid it, but it wasn't much of a move. Edler seems a bit surprised himself about it. Btw the 2 games suspension are set in stone, but it could become longer, IIHF will meet again, so in worst case scenario for Edler, he might miss the Olympics.

So the final ruling, 5 game suspension for Edler, I think it's completely wrong. Does anyone know how many games Getzlaf got? What's funny is that they ruled Edler's intentional, and Getzlaf's not. I don't know what they've been smoking, but it must be some good stuff.

To me this just shows what I've been telling my friends for a long time. IIHF is all about politics. I'm gonna send them an evil e-mail :P Now I've called them corrupt and inconsistant, so now I'm happy.

Hmm, Sweden-Switzerland in the final, not really what I expected. We had an awful start to the tournament, and kept on going on that path for a while. Interesting to see Switzerland do so well. It'd would be kind of embarresing to lose to them in the final, we're at home, and if we lose it will be the 2nd time in the tournament we lose to the swiss, so it can't happen :)

I usually go for Sweden when Canada is out, but it would be nice to see Switzerland win Gold.

seeing as my birth heritage is Swiss, I gotta go with Switzerland myself. But it's funny, we've never thought of Switzerland as a hockey country before :)

For the first time in 60 years of Swiss hockey, Switzerland emerged a silver medallist,  from Saturday's gold medal game against host country Sweden.

Disappointed, but proud.  Those were the Swiss, undefeated in this tournament.  Coached by Canadian Sean Simpson and led by Nashville Predators Roman Josl, also named MVP of tournament.

Congratulations, Team Switzerland!

Meanwhile, the Vancouver Canucks' Sedin twins dominated and led Sweden to it's gold medal victory.  The first time in 27 years that a host country last won a gold medal on home turf.

The U.S. beat Finland 3-2 to take the bronze.

Our Team Canada finished fifth overall. (*groan*)
