2014/15 Roster moves thread

Stalberg and Frattin almost the same kind of player we all had high hopes for.

I wouldn't write off Stalberg just yet. It seems like Nashville still has him in their future plans. He's just had some injury troubles this season (he's only played 5 games) and the Preds don't have any room for him on their roster while he works on his conditioning. I'd expect him to be back up with the team later in the season assuming he doesn't get claimed. But on that note why a team like Buffalo or Edmonton would pass on him is beyond me so we'll see what happens there.

He wasn't great for them last season, either, and having two more seasons at $3M per (and a real dollars payout of $3.5M in each) probably means he clears waivers, easily. That's more more money than either of those teams can really afford to spend on someone they hope can rebound (real dollars more than cap dollars, obviously).

Seems like he may have gotten PDO'd last season. And his 4 more frequent linemates were Colin Wilson, Eric Nystrom, Nick Spaling, and Paul Gaustad, so he really never got a shot in Nashville's top-6, or with talented players really. I wouldn't judge him too harshly for his poor offensive output last season. And this season has been a write-off so far because of his injuries. He's still a big body who can skate and chip in some points. $3mil really isn't a bad price for that.

Honestly should just stay down there. Who would he replace.

At this point, yes.  He's pretty much done himself in with the PED suspension and Carlyle's initial lack of trust in him.  He's not going to supplant Smith/Booth/Panik at this point and the Leafs will get Komarov back hopefully before the end of the year.....

i really like Ashton's game and hope he gets a chance, but he's going to be in tough to crack the NHL roster again.

Real_ESPNLeBrun: Leafs put Carter Ashton on waivers, everyone from yesterday cleared

Poor guy. Finally gets rid of the coach who won't play a 4th line and then immediately gets waived. I said that I thought he had played his last game as a Leaf against Winnipeg though.

So...many...grammar...fails...  ;)

Anyhoots I hope Ashton fares well somewhere else. He might end up being a whole pile of nothing but I really would have liked to have seen him get some substantial time in the lineup...you know, so you can actually make a valid assessment and such.
