How many teams in baseball have won two World Series or even one World Series in the last 20 Years???

Well, the Yankees, Red Sox, Giants, Marlins and Cardinals. You know who hasn't? The Blue Jays.

Nick how many teams in baseball have one the World series more than once in the last 20?? With the Argo win we are not a losing city

I answered that question. Miami, New York, San Francisco, Boston and St. Louis all have two world series titles in the last twenty years. TORONTO DOES NOT.

Argos don't count, we are talking about professional sports, not semi-pro. I don't mean that as a slight against CFL fans either.

A good blog from Berger. Yes. Berger.

I whole heartily agree with him on this...

Always remember, this stuff doesn't just happen to the Leafs.  Boston was up 3-0 on Philly in the series, Philly forced a game 7, and Boston led 3-0 in that game too before losing.  They won the Cup the next season.

Can only move forward from this.

Mark it down. Potvin predicts Leafs cup win next year.

Ha, I wish.  But clearly in 2010 the Bruins leadership group led by Chara was suspect.  It's a good thing the next season they looked to the leadership of Chara to help them to the Cup win.  Random movie reference here.

Another positive, as an unrestricted free agent, the thought about playing for the Leafs starts sounding very appealing.
You too can be memorialized in the highlight reels of record-setting meltdowns! ::)

Seriously. I don't even know what that means.
People will still be playing clips from your career in 100 years. Whenever someone does a compilation of the most epic collapses, you'll be there!

Oh yeah it'll be a TSN Top 10 repeater  :-\  :'(

Right next to the Boston Bruins and New York Yankees.

What a far cry from Cox' "this game will scar them FOR LIFE" article.

It was really astonishing how much the Boston Bruins learned from 2010 and applied it 2011. For instance Tukka Rask gained so much experience from the process that it almost looked as if he aged 13 years and turned into a nutjob from Michigan overnight.

The best part about being a Leafs fan over the last 10 years or so, is it has given us a real Zen outlook on hockey. I feel like we all expect the worst because suffering is life, especially as a Leafs fan.

You aught to try being a Leaf fan for 50 years. Yes I was 2,3,4 and 7 when we won the Cup (can't remember them  :-\) so they don't count....I've been
thru the late 70's with a team that should have gone far, the 80's <groan>, the 90's (my best moments as a Leaf fan for a few years), Quinn
years where we should have been in the Finals (implode vs Carolina) then the last 9 years - of course punctuated by incompetent management.

Yes we are a hardy bunch.

lamagama is a bit younger than me. I was indoctrinated in the early 60's and 67 with a winning mentality...its been a long walk through the desert since then and last night was a ballbuster...but I feel we are getting there...just need to keep Nonis in place.

Leafs have improved drastically during this shortened season than in the past few years, but I think they are still under the RW influence in terms of defensive coverage and system, and are still young and inexperienced.  What the team experienced this season and in the playoffs can be built on and learned from which can make the players better.  To get to the next level, the Leafs need to acquire defensive and centre experience with some grit.

I was just 6 in 67, and I too have walked the long hard road as a leaf fan. This team is the youngest team in the NHL, and looks very hungry. This year was a very big Learning year for both the players and management. we will see some tweaks over the summer, I am sure we will be back with a vengeance. We have served notice, THE LEAFS ARE BACK.

We will be talking about this game for the next twenty years. We won't be any closer then than we are now to explaining it. The hockey gods are Greek; it appears that they enjoy tragedy.

One thing is clear: TML does not have enough skill at face-offs. Number one weakness on the team is at centre ice. It is **intolerable** to continue with this key deficiency. It must be addressed -- or GM Dave Nonis should get the boot. Yes, it really IS that simple, that harsh, and that stark. Fix this problem or get the hell out of the way for someone else who can.

Phil Kessel: did all that was asked of him and he was rarely on the ice during the meltdown last night. The wins were to his credit - the loss is not his responsibility. Kessel, to his credit, looked and sounded miserable after the game. When a man cares enough to cry -- and does all he can to win and is your team's leading scorer? You keep him. Phil Kessel is a keeper. Give him the "A". He has earned it.

Joffrey Lupal: The real Captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs. And everybody knows it. When Phaneuf goes, he gets the "C"".

Reimer and Scrivens: Reimer got us to game 7. It's not his fault the Leafs didn't win it. It takes an entire team to collapse in an historic way -- not one guy. Scrivs is a serviceable backup...for now. Keepers.

Nazem Kadri: I like this kid and we all want him to be Dougie reborn. The biggest problem with his game is that his face-off skill is woeful for a centre, and that deficiency was glaring in this series. Far worse, however, is with his character. It seems to me that "defeat rests too easily on his shoulders".  That may just be his media persona -- but it is profoundly  troubling to see as a fan.

JVR: Worth the trade. Not sure if we "won" the trade or not, but he was worth it. Keeper.

Dion Phanuef: He's a strong D-man, but he is not a $6.5 million franchise player; He's a 4.5 million D. When his contract is up, he takes a hit or he can go & move on. It's that simple. High salary, inflated expectations and the "C" have all done his career a great disservice in this city. Frankly, at this stage? If you can land something big for him this summer -- you trade him now.

Tyler Bozak: I like this guy and it may well be that with him in the lineup we would have won last night. He's worth $4.5, but no more than that. I hope he stays.

Mikhail Grabovski: -3 on the night, -10 in the playoffs. The lowest plus-minus in the league. No offence, no defence, no skill on face-offs. Skating hard is not enough; taking a hit is not enough. At $3.5 million, you keep him, but not at $5.5. If he cannot be traded (and not many would take his $5.5 mill salary) he should be bought out and sent packing. The Leafs salary cap is better spent elsewhere.

Kulemin: Time to move on.

Komarov: A banger and role-player at a low price, but Carlyle clearly does not trust him enough to play him in a tight spot. He needs to step up next year or be moved out.

MacArthur: Serviceable, but we can probably do better. Kyle Wellwood, for one, would be a better 3rd line forward at centre or the wing.

McClement: McClement was one of the best penalty killers in the league. Keeper.

Franson, Fraser, Gardiner, Gunnarsson: Keepers, all.  Gardiner may yet prove to be our best D-man. Franson was heroic. Fraser did all the was asked and took a serious injury for the team.

Kostka and Holzer: Depth D at a cheap price. Keepers.

Liles and O'Byrne: If you can't trust em enough to play em, you don't trust them enough to keep them, especially at their salaries.

McClaren, Orr: I'm all for enforcers, but they need to be able to play, too.  These guys aren't good enough to take a shift when the chips are on the line. Get better goons.

I somewhat disagree with these three. One bad year from Grabovski doesn't erase everything he's shown in the past.

Suggesting that Bozak and Phaneuf are worth the same on this team is off-base. I believe Phaneuf is far more valuable than Bozak.
