Arcobello placed on waivers

I don't see why Arcobello hits waivers before Grabner or Parenteau, but okay. This is better than waiving Holland.

I mean I get that these guys are just 4th liners but picking Froese over Arcobello doesn't make any sense to me. At least it wasn't Holland I guess.

Well, Froese is younger, bigger and cheaper.

Could say that about a lot of AHL players. Anyway with the Clune signing maybe this means Froese doesn't stick around for very long either.

True. But just in general I think we're going to see a bit of a cycling of these last few roster spots. Give guys 8-10 games to see if they can potentially be someone a team might want at the deadline and, if not, give someone else a shot at it.

So I just think Arcobello got that stretch of games and I think there's not a lot more to see there.

Yeah, and I'm ok with that idea. Like others, I found it a little odd that the Leafs didn't at least keep one spot in their forward ranks open for one of their older forward prospects currently on the Marlies. If this move gives a Bailey/Hyman/Soshnikov a chance to play in the NHL I'm fine. My issue again is more about Froese, or more specifically how much Babcock has talked him up when he really hasn't been effective at all.

If Arcobello clears (I don't think he will) and reports to the Marlies, they just got a lot more dangerous. In 13/14 he played 15 games for the Oilers' AHL team and scored 28 points in 15 games.

I think Arcobello is the type of guy who could make significantly more abroad than he could in the NHL, I appreciate he is chasing his dream, but I think he'd be one of the top scorers in most leagues outside of the NHL.

If he is over say 1/1.5 points per game down there, is there a chance they can get a prospect or pick out of a trade partner?

A late round pick, maybe. Or a longshot prospect. Rather have the pick.

Yeah, I don't think that his AHL performance will really make teams come calling. He'd have to get called up and show something at the NHL level.

I"m totally onboard with Babs' decision to sit Holland and play Froese, I've never understood the Holland love.
