Bolland to Panthers

Good job Nonis/Shanahan staying the heck away from that.

Considering Dreger said the Leafs were at $5mil for 5 years, I think we're betting off thanking Tallon for being insane.

Which is hilarious.  Remember how much Bolland loved Toronto and all that?  For ~$500 K difference he's gone.

Well, that all assumes Dreger is accurate.  Kypreos is saying the exact opposite - that we didn't even offer a contract.

Well Bolland just said:

@Hope_Smoke

Bolland on FAN 590 "there were only about 2 or 3 teams that were in the mix. Came down to Florida and Toronto"

I wouldn't have touched that contract with a ten foot clown pole.

I would have, but only to pick it up, pretend to read it, push my fake glasses down my face and the look at Bolland's agent and say "really?".

Dear Florida,

We signed David Clarkson's contract, and are still laughing at you.  Good luck with that.

signed Leaf Fans.

Thank god.  What a relief.

Clarkson's contract may still be the worst in the NHL, but at least he has some competition now.

... compare Moulson (20-30 goal pace for each of the last 5 years) with Bolland (20-30 point pace...) for 500K more per year, coming off injury.

How good do people think Bolland's defense is?

With a gun to my head, I'd still take Bolland's contract (and a barf bag) over Clarkson's.

Injuries and overpayment are what make Bolland's contract unappealing.  Clarkson had effort level issues and over his career is worse offensively than Bolland.  If you gave Josh Gorges the choice of either signing Bolland, Clarkson, or playing for the Leafs, he would choose Bolland.

thank heavens someone in the leaf brass said no to this insane deal...Id have been sick if the leafs doled out this contract....

Still bothers me that it was Kassian who happened to cut Bolland...

Funny how the last two lacerations of late were from guys named Cooke and Kassian.

Anyway it was exciting to have Bolland, to bad we never really got to see much of him.

So thankful for teams that need to reach the cap floor and make poor decisions!

Bolland is their second highest paid player behind Cambell.  They have 15 million in cap space to sign 4 players.  That's kind of insane.
