Which, while we are on the subject how is it even remotely fair that the Habs get fans for game 6?

I mean on the flipside would it be fair to the Habs if they got punished by not being allowed to have fans just because Ontario's COVID situation is worse than Quebec's?

Great, just one more thing Quebec is better than Ontario at.

Some post-game thoughts...

Sandin, if he isn't going to play on PP1, why have him in there instead of Dermott?

Matthews didn't have his best game tonight, hopefully he picks it up next game.

Marner...seems to be over-thinking it, causing him to take too long and run out of time on many chances.

Galchenyuk, man...I thought he played well overall but that brain fart in OT is going to linger. Can't be doing that. Thought the pinch by Bogo was also ill-advised at that point.

I don't blame Bogo so much. You pinch yes but all Gally had to do was look around, hold onto it or better yet dump it back into the Habs end. That was all his fault.

The Leafs beat themselves with dumb turnovers tonight. It's a very Leaf-y thing but also something that hasn't happened much in more recent history. I'm still confident we'll close this out on Saturday.

Now if this goes to game 7 I'm not ashamed to admit I'll be pretty nervous.
Oh for sure. But I get enough stress at work worrying about what ifs, there's no reason to let this seep into my Leafs watching until Game 7.

I'd also say playing in front of some fans for the first time in forever could hype up the Leafs too even as a road team.

To my eye Brooks is completely ineffective. Put Nash back in, he makes smart plays and shuts shit down.

I dunno about this. They didn?t roll 4 lines since they were behind most of the game.  A guy playing 8 min a game isn?t the difference.

Matthews needs make a statement in game 6

I don't think that should come into play. NHL should flat out state that no fans allowed at any games between 2 teams. I don't care in a sense that it's only 2500 people but should be the same as it was last year. Once it seems like the 3rd wave is gone then let people in the stands in whatever city.

That's absolutely ridiculous. If the gov't is good with fans, then there should be fans.

The Leafs haven't flipped the script and in my mind they had to win tonight, because now we are on the "here we go again" train.

No, *you're* on the "here we go again" train.
Agree..the Leafs won't dwell on this... May motivate them even more

I mean if the situation was reversed and the NHL banned fans from home games in Toronto despite their provincial government allowing it the Scotiabank Arena would burn to the ground.

All I?m saying is to make it fair keep things the way they are.
So let?s say Manitoba had none or low cases and Ontario or Quebec were still bad as far as cases would it would be fair to allow fans in Winnipeg and none in Ontario or Quebec?

Positive take: The Leafs looked sluggish and out of sync (I honestly wondered during the game whether Matthews might be under the weather ... he just didn't have any snap all night) and they played by far their worst game of the series ? and they still managed to put three by Price and get the thing to OT from being down 3-0.  They never quit.  Anything better than tonight's performance should get it done.

Negative take: they don't have the killer instinct ? still.  If they manage to blow this series I have no idea what else can be done to get them over the hump.  I think Dubas gave them all the right pieces.  If they can't win a series after being up 3-1 against the 16th best team in the playoffs then ... I just don't know.

I believe that is why they brought in veterans who've gone through this before (Nash, Thornton, Foligno, Simmonds) ... players who can tell the team they can get through this mini-adversity. Hopefully if there are any doubts, those players can help nip it in the bud.

That I'm sure is what Dubas was thinking.  Bogosian too, although he picked a bad time to make his only real bad play of the series.

Fortunately... this was Game 5 with a 3-1 lead.. not Game 7.
The Leaf players who came out to get interviewed were rather ticked off. Hopefully as you said this game is motivation enough for Game 6.

I do feel bad for Galchenyuk. He helped set up the tying goal with his shot and that line was going pretty good again. I can understand if Sandin gets sat for Dermott. I hope they don't sit Gally for that 1 mistake  - tho costly.

What do you think is going to happen in the semi finals.  If the leafs make it there, they are most likely playing Tampa or Carolina...full (or close to full) capacity

The last goal is all on Galchenyuk. But it happens.
The pinch by Bogosian is a set play. The Leafs run it all the time. Dump it around, dman, comes down, F3 covers. What F3 shouldn't do is fire it across the blueline to a dman on the other side of the ice.

The Leafs weren't great tonight but fought back. Saturday will be fun. I wonder if Montreal will burn the city if they lose Saturday night?

As for dumping on Sandin, I don't think that's overly fair. He had a couple give aways but Campbell needs those two goals. Just like game 1, he didn't need to win the game for them, but he has to cover up for their odd mistake. They're not making many.
