Game Notes

VAN
-Demko (3-5-0, 3.81 GAA, .897 Sv%) will likely start for the Canucks
-After winning 4 straight games (3 against "a team"), Vancouver has now lost 4 straight games by a combined score of 9-23

TOR
-Andersen (7-2-1, 2.80 GAA, .896 Sv%) will likely start for the Leafs
-Simmonds left Saturday's game in the 3rd period after taking a puck off his hand. An early report is that he'll be out for awhile but we'll wait for confirmation Monday
-The Leafs didn't practice on Sunday so no word on what the lines will look like without Simmonds. I've bumped Vesey to the Tavares line and put Engvall in on the 3rd line, but anyones guess is as good as mine

Travis Hamonic - Upper Body - Injured Reserve

Code:

Wayne Simmonds - Hand - Day to day
Travis Dermott - Lower Body - Day to day
Jack Campbell - Lower Body - Injured Reserve

Joe Thornton - Rib - Injured Reserve

Mikheyev is joining the 2nd PP unit tonight with Spezza, Kerfoot, Nylander, Lehtonen.
1st PP, JT, M&M, Hyman, Rielly.

Carlton... Oh My!!!  How can you have Vesey on the 2nd line,That's just scary. I have no idea why he is even on the team right now. He has showen nothing.

Vesey: This season's whipping boy, and for no particularly good reason.

Anyway, looking forward to 38 debuting.

Tavares's takeaway there didn't amount to anything, but it came at the end of his shift and was relentless.  Impressive.

I heard on Leafs Lunch that when the Leafs try and get Joe and Robertson back on the active roster it's going to be very difficult.

Being as they make minimum, is this really true?

2 empty net goals 1 assist in 12 games..not particularly good on the PK...

That was quick, Rielly
Very pouncy. Matthews also on a good angle if the rebound went the other way.

As opposed to, say, Mikheyev?  I'm not claiming Vesey's been fabulous, but the criticism is outsized.

EDIT: I don't remember his first goal, but the second was a beautiful feed from 88 for an easy one.  It was not EN.

Mikheyev is our best defensive forward and penalty killer. He's also created chances something Vesey hasn't. I'd love for Vesey to break out because it would be great for the Leafs.
