Carlyle fired

This season was never about making the playoffs, it was giving Shanaplan his year to access, make a lot of managment changes and wait for Babcock to become available.  This year was indeed a right off from the start. So we can either knash our teeth or sit back and watch the inevitable changes which are going to happen, probably starting with a trade or 4 and Nonis being handed his walking papers after we miss the playoffs.

I can't wait for Babcock to come nowhere near Toronto.

The only way I see Babcock coming here is he is offered BOTH GM and Coach.  He would want full control over the roster.

That, or a truckload of money.

Yup. I really don't see him leaving Detroit, to be honest.

I don't think the chances are high or anything but I feel like if him staying in Detroit were that much of a sure thing it would have been done already. There's a part of me that feels like Ilitch might eventually cave on whatever demands Babcock may have but I think that there's more than a little truth to the idea that there's friction there right now.

He's got nothing left to prove there, a real legend to build and I believe that Shanaplan can handle the power structure by having the B as both GM and Coach.. Of course Dubas would be a heavy assistant GM.

Where does the idea that he'd want to be a GM come from?

I think that stems from the rumour that he wants input on player transactions, similar to what Patrick Roy has in Colorado.

Yeah, I don't know about GM but the rumours are he definitely wants a front office-type position as well as coaching.

This is what I think too.  I'm not saying they won't kiss and make up, but when that last little rumor burstlet a couple of weeks ago saying that he had re-signed turned out to be false, my sixth sense began whispering that he's done there.

It was one thing to bring in blustery Burkie, but Shanaplan, Dubas, Hunter  are a whole different crew.  These guys will get it done and Chev whats another 10 years between Loaf fans anyway.  I was 11 when they won their last cup, to be fair I lost contact with them between 85-97 so took quite a long break.
