Did a team near the end of the waiver priority jump in with a trade offer?

Looks like it. Nashville? Vegas? Pittsburgh?

Nashville would make a lot of sense. They have the cap space and their 3rd best RD right now is a 30-year old Yannick Weber who put up a 46.6% CF last year.

I thought the Gardiner-Carrick pairing from a few years back looked really good. It's a shame, I thought he was going to be a solid contributor.

If he is traded I'm sure the return will be fairly minimal but I wonder if it still didn't factor into the decision.

Sending Carrick to a Western Conference contender would be for everyone?s mutual benefit.

Not exactly a big return, but better than the nothing waivers would bring.

I see it as a favour to someone who has been a good player for us and now gets a chance to play real minutes.

Dallas already has Klingberg, Johns, Polak (lol) and Honka on their right side... so this is a little weird for them.

Disappointing, as I thought Carrick had more in him than we saw - but at least he's not going to be scratched in favour of Polak . . . or, maybe he will.

And, lest we forget, Dubas is now the sole attractive nerd with glasses.
And Zach Hyman can get his Fittest player on the Leafs award back.

Agreed. I'm still not very impressed with the right side and wonder how much they'll improve on last season's awful transitions having only upgraded the centers. That's no small thing, but having defensemen on the right side who can move the puck would've been nice...

I wish they could have traded him for Honka. That's a guy who could use a change of scenery.

Seems unlikely that Dallas would just give up on Honka this soon.
